would you consider the rti12 a 2 channel speaker?

There are many reasons, and remember these are opinions, just like the ones you stated.

I use to own the RTi series, loved them for HT simply for the more straight forward / bright sound. Hated them for music as they were way to harsh for my tastes.

Different strokes for different folks. I don't even know why people ask these questions without hearing them for themselves. The best possible answer you could have, not someone elses opinion.

I would say if you have tubes in the path,they will do...I hooked our 12's up to the 2-channel set-up not so long ago,and they sounded very good,better than I expected.

I have them powered by a pair of Adcoms in our HT rig,and the tweeters are a little too bright for my tastes.

After coupling them with a little better gear,with some tubes in mix,the tweeters smoothed out very well...made them a lot easier to listen to.

That series sounds great with tube amplification.

I had a set of RTi4s for a period and did not like them for music at all. The 12s use the same tweeter, and that is what I had all my qualms with, the harsh and bright high end.

I would imagine that a tubed system would tame them a little bit, but to a degree that makes them great for music, you might need a tube poweramp, not just a tubed pre, or a DAC with a tubed output buffer, for example. I mean, my ears are really sensitive to HF, so it would be personal preference too... With the right amps they are going to sound pretty airy and spacious, all good things, if you can stand a little fatigue with some recordings.

Polk pretty much built the RTi series for serious home theatre, and LSi for serious music.

This is a very difficult question for others to answer for YOU. There are so many levels of experience and likes and dislikes. For me personally the RTi line wouldn't make a good 2 ch music speaker. I hvae no idea if it would for you. You can draw some general conclusions based on what others tell you but until you get your ears on them in your setting you won't know.

I've bought gear before based on professional magazine reviews and was disappointed. I've heard gear that generally gets great reviews here and other places and just didn't feel it was all that special like some said it was. And was very happy that I didn;t buy it.

I think the Rti series sound great 2 channel or HT with Parasound amps... But I been told I like it bright, but I like ML also are these consider bright?
