I have a pair of original sda crs speakers, with the dual tweeters per speaker. I recently ordered and recieved the twin blade interconnect cable from polk (very helpfull on the phone) and finally got to hear these beauties in full sda mode. When the cable is hooked in i get sound out of all 4 tweeters and all 4 drivers. But if i switch the balance between left and right, when i go left i only get sound out of one driver and tweeter on the left speaker and no sound at all out of the right speaker box, whereas if i go right on the balance i get sound out of both the right tweeter and driver on the rt speaker box, and the left sda tweeter and driver in the left speakerbox. I tried swapping the speakers and still had the same problem on the same sides, the problem was not speaker box specific. Any suggestions? Is this a bad resistor / capacitor crossover problem? Seems odd that the problem did not follow the speaker when i swapped them...

Let me get this straight:
when you have the balance in the center everything pays and correctly.
when you turn balance to left only 1 left driver and 1 left tweeter are working
That is the way SDA works Left shares with SDA driver on right speaker and visa versa

What pre amp and power amp are you using?

Like Engatz said that is SDA in a nutshell.
You will only hear all the speakers in each cabinet when the balance is set in the middle.
When you set the balance to one side or the other it is just like diconnecting the interlink cable.
Hope that helps.

this was common with my SRS's when I had them. don't move the balance from center.. and everything will be fine. Once balance is at center everything is fine.. i don't see the problem.

That is not SDA in a nutshell. There should be some sound coming from the right speaker when the balance is full left and he states above that there is no sound, so there is a problem.
My question as to what gear he is using is to see if he's using a common ground amp.
TampaTwo, if you call Polk and ask nicely, they will send you an SDA troubleshooting guide.

I've narrowed it down to where when the balance is set to the middle, the right speaker is playing in stereo (each driver / tweeter combination playing a seperate channel) and the left speaker is playing in mono (only one channel is playing thru both sets drivers and tweeters) So maybe it is a cable problem? I'll try swapping the cable when i get home and see if the problem follows the cable.

Oh yeah, the amp is a common ground carver tfm-35, no problems there.

Double check that you have the speakers wired in phase.

Phase was the problem. Probably best that i stick to two channel for the time being..... Thanks all!

WOW! These little bastards are singin'! Why would anyone ever use these without the interconnect?

No because then your only using half the speaker and that would be a waste of speaker of a great speaker.
