I have a pair of SDA CDS from 1984. They only blow bass on one side??? Is the x-over gone?? The ohms test the same on meter so not resistors?? Any thoughts?? I have schematics, looks likes CAPS, please advise.

Have you taken the drivers out and metered each one of them? Did you swap the wires from one side to the other and the problem stay? Could still be a shorted voice coil but without checking each driver, it's hard to say. Maybe someone here with these will be able to help more.

Make sure all the drivers are working and tightened down. SDA, RTA, and Monitor series driver screws can 'back out' a tad over the years. Check and make sure both speakers are wired in (identical) phase. We don't care if the stereo drivers move in or out first, as long as they both move the same.

Thanks Russ,
I had to replace a tweeter in one and took out both woofers to muse my 12 year old curiosity attribute, didn't even think about swapped wires....DUUHHHH.

Russ is right there were swapped wires.... leads to another conversation, when the wife sez "this speaker" has been apart on the dining room table for a week (all the time you possess your own work space in which no clutter is allowed) DO NOT hastily assemble your project....

Jesse pointed out the obvious in another thread. It's easy to forget the simple things when you start troubleshooting.
Cheers,
Russ
