Good luck, ebay is about the only place and they don't come up too often. What are the issue's with the current one's?

What shade of grey are you talking about? Anyhow, you better get use to the color because you'll never find a new one, let alone a pair.

Paint them gloss black, then see how much more you liked them when they were dirty gray.

LOL, There Are no New Ones!
You will never find a pair of new ones. I have a pair of spare 15" PR's because I bought a pair of SRS 2's that had water damage and I ripped them down for parts.
As per yours: they are grey because they need to be cleaned!
Take a piece of paper towel and spray 8 or 9 squirts of windex and clean each PR.
Check out how much dirt I got off of mine, the bottom paper towel is from the PR

I suspect you are not experiencing the true SDA SRS effect the way you have your speakers placed. You need at least three feet from the side walls to experience true SRS effect.
I understand yoiu probably don't have the space to do that. I do and all I can say is wow on the SDA SRS acoustic effect.

Yes, G2, Thank you for rubbing it in. My dining room is 22' long and when the WAF was away i moved everything out of the dining room and moved my stereo system in and it was amazing. But I have no screen in the dining room and it's hard to use the dining room table when it's on its side :(

Maybe, I will ask him to take a picture of a folded up $20 bill on top of the radiator and post it.
If he can then I guess it's true.
It almost looks like to me with a request to pm him instead of posting a set price here he is looking to auction these off to the highest bidder or perhaps even sell them to several people at once lmaoooo.
Even if he is perfectly honest and above board this is one of the reasons why we have a flea market and rules that we have to abide by. to protect both seller and buyer.
I am pretty certain if this was not such a rare sought after item he would have been told to get 25 posts before he offers them for sale here by skirting the rules.

I have been a lurker here probably within the first month or 2 the forum started...have been a polk nut from my first pair back in the 80's....I had ordered from polk a COMPLETE set of drivers for my 1.2tl's. I ended up selling them when moving to my new house....used the 6 1/2's and tweeters for custom built cabinets I built myself...my friend needed the set of crossovers...and I was left with this pair of 15" radiators.
I can understand the leeriness in having something so rare become avail....the money never even entered my mind ( Ask Lasareth...he was the first of many to reply so he got first crack at them...gave them to him for exactly what I paid for them back in the early 90's...let me tell you..they were cheap...polk gave them to me at cost ) All I wanted to make sure of is someone from this forum got them and they were going to be used in a system instead of sitting in my back bedroom.
Here are the pics :) I would have asked for a hundred sitting on the speaker :)

Are you kidding me ? Somebody made a thread ASKING for these radiators...It wasnt ME who made the thread. I happened to have a pair and offered them to a REQUEST.
If not for this thread they would have sat where they were stored for another who knows how many years until I creatively came up with a way to use them.
This was NOT a so called bad example like you were whining about...it was a perfect example of a forum being useful...somebody had a need to repair something that is extremely rare to find if not impossible as you yourself mentioned. Believe me...I did not sell these for the money...I could have gotten MUCH more from a different ave ( Craigslist...EBAY..etc ) It was to help a forum member out....

Whining? Hardly, just stating the rules and the obvious. That is, what would be obvious to someone who's been lurking for 6 or 7 years.
What also stinks is that the person asking for the item wasn't the person who bought them. Since he asked first, it would have been the proper thing to see that he got first crack. Funny though, he seems to have passed right by this thread while posting elsewhere.
Coincidence??? I doubt it.

Someone did post a request. Did you sell the passive radiators to that member?
Anyone know where I can get a pair of replacement passive radiators for my SRS 1.2's?
gdsk39a, it appears that you were hosed on a blue light special. If you are up to the DIY challenge, PartsExpress has a textured black vinyl laminate (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=261-618) that closely matches the original PR coating. It feels slightly thicker than their regular black ash vinyl laminate (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=261-610).

The person wanting them apparently didnt know there wasnt anything wrong with his except they needed a good cleaning...his question was answered and he never returned to the thread ( Or emailed me ) where as many others emailed me needing new replacements for actually damaged radiators...Lasareath being the absolute first to email me AND a reason for needing them ( A cat thought his radiator was evil ) got them.
Simple as that....you just seemed to get bent out of shape when you told him
" F1nut What shade of grey are you talking about? Anyhow, you better get use to the color because you'll never find a new one, let alone a pair.
And I came onto the thread saying I had a brand new pair.....there were no forum rules broken...I simply had something that was asked for in a thread...period.
Now, If I had gone to every thread in the forum....replied to 10 or 25 of them in meaningless ways to get the right to post something for sale ...and then replied to the radiator thread saying I had a pair for sale....would that had made it " Right " in the eyes of the 12K post police ? Somebody asked...I had...let it go....

The thing that really bothers me here is that a member (a new member) was asking if someone had these FS. Now I believe in the free enterprise system as much as anyone else but he doesn't even get them. Lasareth who has already admitted to having 1 pair for a "Rainy day" which will probably never come now is hoarding 2 pairs of these PR's. I thinks that stinks because there maybe people (not the member who doesn't like the color) who are really in need of these.
Just my .02c and moving along now because I don't want to even get started on how this violates the rules for selling here on the forum. This whole transaction sticks like an old moldy piece of cheese.

this is the problem with rules, they either apply across the board for any item no matter how rare or they do not, I say eff the 25 post rule............../////////||||||\\\\\\\ reminds me of Animal Farm, where everyone is equal but some are more equal.......or just have the rule continue to be skirted by posting here. Never really made sense to me but..........
Of course the whole thing could be a sham just a F1 has stated. I dunno as many times as the PR's have been talked about for repairs now after 6 years someone who has been lurking steps up with new ones......wow.

I hate to keep this thread going but there needs to be a little sanity brought in here.
First off I have to commend Sal for not posting since the thread started to get ugly. His practices of having spares of permanently out-of-stock parts seems to really get on some forum member’s nerves.
Secondly H9 your assessment of that "rainy day" not coming is incorrect; Sal's cat did a shredding number on the PR in his right 1.2 TL. So his vision of owning spares is well founded.
I know the rules were jostled here but the original poster is satisfied and Sal got a replacement PR and his beloved spare. Unless Shadow turns out to be a fraud, I think all is well.
Apparently Shadow has been lurking because he knew that I've been looking for a pair of original CRS stands. He has contacted me privately through Sal and has offered up a pair of stands he has in storage. He also offered to ship the stands to me FedEx on Monday and give me the total price after which I can send payment. I think if he is a shyster he sure has a funny way of ripping people off.
Is it that unbelievable that an audiophile has tons of gear and accessories stored away? C'mon.
I think what happened here is a coincidence and not some shyster trying to get over on us. If this newest member does get over on Sal then shame on Sal and a lesson learned. If not I think we need to guide the new guys to the forum rules for future reference and let it go.

RT1, That's fine, gsdk can have them, My plan was to store them away as spares. Or at the most I was going to install them and store away the ones I have now as spares.
But, Then I saw this:
http://38.161.195.8/reeltrouble.jpg
Of course it's nobody's problem but my own, But I guess the seller made his own decision that somebody with a punctured PR should get them rather then somebody who just wanted a different shade of grey.
I'm sorry that I saw them and jumped faster than anybody else and he offered them to me first. I confessed to him right away that I really needed at least one of them because of my damn cat.
Today I mounted a double door in the main entrance to my living room and a single 30" door that leads to my computer room from my living room. So now the living room will be closed off to all pets.
It was either new doors or new cat fur gloves!

I'm sorry I jumped in ahead of you. I really only need one. I can send you these new 1993 ones when I get them and you can send me yours.
Sal
First off let me say Sal thats mighty nice of you to offer these to G man here. Your a good man and it shows by doing this what your made of. Hats Off to ya
Personally I believe that whoever responds to a for sale ad first should get first shot period whatever there reasons may be. as shadow mentioned you were the first to respond. if I had came to a forum and was told there was not a chance in hell that I would ever find a pair I might not check back for months if at all on it. We could fight non stop for weeks about who has the most need.
Why I posted what I did earlier was that I was concerned for a couple of reasons. one being that not being in the flea market and being a very rare item and not having a price set on the items up front can lead to bad things happening.
Such as the seller taking bids via pm or email basically saying that so and so offered me X amount of dollars can you match it? etc
Another one is the seller selling these items to a dozen different peeps that responded privately via pm or email, and not delivering them to anyone.
There are reasons why the flea market rules are in place this is a couple of them. To avoid this sort of thing happening.
Also to avoid any ill will later on by others who wanted the same items.
In the flea market it is first come first serve so this would not even be an issue now.
most likely this issue will come up again perhaps by a newcomer that doesnt know how the flea market works and posts a item for sale in another thread.
I suggest that whoever wants these item/s in the future to simply say yes I want it and I call dibs on it but please post this in the flea market area so everything is aboveboard and public. this protects both the buyer and seller so no one can say he said she said this or that. and lets others be aware that the item is sold or not without fear of paying for it and realizing that so did 12 others lol:D

Parts Express Passive Radiators will work but there is work involved in regards to fitment. I replaced a pair of SDA1C PR's with PE PR's. The radiators are much more rigid than the OEM radiators and I thought the sound was different personally. They are also in a traditional cone shape, not flat. The "customer" didn't care and thought they sounded better, so go figure.
Ken Swauger offered to get these tested for me ages ago and when I get time I'll hand them over to Polk. I have PE radiators in 8, 10 & 12. They have a 15" PR but not in the cheap range, so its not in my stash.

So I went to Loews and bought (25) #10 One Inch Stainless Steal Oval Head Phillips Screws and I'm going to just paint the the heads with a black touch up paint that you would use for your car. I have a few holes that the wood screws just do not hold tight enough anymore. So I went to Loews and bought (25) #10 One Inch Stainless Steal Oval Head Phillips Screws and I'm going to just paint the the heads with a black touch up paint that you would use for your car. The paint has one of those little brushes like the size for nail polish.
Another thing you might consider is wood filler. Pack in tightly, let dry, drill a pilot hole, and reinsert original screw. That is what I have used for years whenever one of the MDF holes got a little loose. I preferred not to use larger (and with time, even larger) screws because, over time, you are making larger and larger holes in the MDF and getting closer to the edge of the PR/speaker cutout. On my 1.2TL's, the edge of the PR screw holes is only about 1/8" from the edge of the PR cutout.

That's a very good idea Raife. 15 out of 16 screws went in super snug. Only one keeps turning :(
When I eventually get around to my XLR IC cable then I will most likely use your method.
Thanks, Sal

Sal,
Shove three round toothpicks in the hole that will give you a good snug fit.

Joe, Can I do this while the PR is already screwed in?, I would hate to take it off again and risk one of the other screws getting loose also.
There's something different about these PR's, I don't know if it's the new seal, the larger screws or the new PR but when I press on the PR the 8 MW's move like they did with the old PR but now if I push on one MW the PR moves as well. this was not the case with the old PR's.
I guess the seal is better now?

You would have to unscrew it to use the toothpicks. I found that with a screw spinning the PR rattles during deep bass passages. What I did was to remove all the screws, do the toothpick trick in all the holes, place two strips of speaker sealer (Parts Express) around the perimeter of the PR and them screw it back in. I was able to really torque the screws tightly and the sealer really held the PR in place. I did this back in June and have not had one bit of problem with the screws coming loose or the PR rattling anymore.

I don't have this problem, but why has no one suggested just shifting the position of the PR by a 3-4" and drilling all new holes? Can't do this with tweets, but one could do it with the drivers as well. The leads wouldn't all be symmetrical, but who cares if you get a good tight seal again.

It's has been recommeded to me to rotate the PRs and drill new holes. At the time I was installing the newly upgraded crossovers and was chomping at the bit to get them installed and burned in. . . so I took the easy way out, which, as it turns out, worked very well. However, what I did is really not a permanent fix so the fix above, I think, would be more appropriate when time permits.
One question; why would one want to rotate the drivers and make new holes? The drivers have little threaded anchors that you screw those allen head screws into.

Yup...What Joe said...just make sure you use hardwood toothpicks. That tape from parts express is really good...I buy it in bulk..use it anytime I open up an enclosure. The original polk seal is awesome ( Yours were virgin and why your PR moved by only pressing one 6 1/2...but after it is compressed once and removed it gets paper thin.

Wasn't aware of that on some SDA's. I was speaking more for the Monitor series, etc. If I remove the driver (5b's) one more time it may not seat properly next time as there are no threaded anchors in the less expensive Polks.

I wasn't speaking of the tape, I was actually taking about that tar like speaker seal. Some people hate it but I found it easy to work with and easy to remove if necessary.
As a matter of fact I used it to seal my cabinet close when I found that one of the corners had come apart.

Those anchors are pretty good but if you should force them out of the hole by accident, they are a bear to get back in place the biggest hazzard being that while screwing them back in, you can squash them and then it becomes pretty much FUBAR.

I think the bass response is better, deeper and more full.
But, you know how this goes, you do something to improve the sound and you keep telling yourself that it sounds better and eventually you believe it ;)
