I just got a great deal on some series 2 monitor 10's (http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56311) with the SL2500 tweeter. I also have a pair of SDA 1b's with the SL2000 tweeter.

My question is - can I use the same RDO tweeter as a replacement for both the SL2000 and the SL2500?

I was thinking of running the SDA's as the front stage of a home theater (pantom center - with the SDA effect, shouldnt be a problem) and the 10's as my rears. If I could replace both sets of tweeters with the same RDO that would essentially timber match them for me.

It would make a heck of a budget 2nd home theater for me. Anyone using SDA's with monitor series rear speakers? What center channel would be a match for the SDA 1b's (with RDO tweets)?

Thanks for your help,

Michael

The RD0194 is a replacement for the SL1000 and SL2000.
The RD0198 is a replacement for the SL2500 and SL3000.

Well crap - there goes that idea. So do the RDO replacements sound more similar than the 2000 and 2500? (the 2500 in the 10's seem MUCH nicer than the 2000's in my 1b's.

Michael

Edit - what I mean is - will SDA1b's with the RDO194 sound similar to the series2 10's with the RDO198, or would the two speakers be more similar leaving the factory 2000's and 2500's in there?

I've upgraded my SL2500's in my Monitor 10 series 2 to the RDO198.
BIG IMPROVEMENT!!!

(Do not hesitate to make the upgrade)

I can't comment on the sound of the SL2500 because it has been years since I heard a speaker that used it.

The SL2000 and SL3000 are very different sounding tweeters as are the RD0194 and RD0198. Whether you use the older tweeters or the silk domes, there is going to be some noticeable disparity in sound. However, the RD0194 is smoother and closer to the sound of the RD0198 than the SL2000 is to the sound of the SL3000.
