yea i just dug out my old yamaha 16x drive, looks like i have a new project and i just happen to have a mag light.

I wonder if the higher write speeds have stronger diodes?

But... it requires you to buy an existing laser pointer! Why not just use THAT?!

They want you to use a part off an existing laser pointer housing. Something you can probably purchase at your local RS. Another reason is the lack of space to hold two double-A batteries.
