Things are changing at personal level that wouldn't allow me do any serious stereo listening for at least next couple of years (plus I can use the cache now :)), therefore I am selling most of the stuff the 2Ch stuff that I have accumulated over the last year. Parasound HCA 1500A: $old to Darla (I will split shipping from 06811)

Hi,
I think I will pass on the phono amp. It doesnt have enough gain to work well with the cart I am using. From what I read looks like a great phono amp. Thanks and good luck on your sale.

np bikerboy. I agree this unit has 40 and 50 db of gain, and you might need a step up transformer with your Cart.

If the record player doesn't sell within 1 month, I'll take it off your hands at the current asking price. If it sells before then, oh well. Sometimes I wished I didn't blow so much dough on gear so I could afford more gear.

There are no scratches or damage to the cover. I believe the pics shows the dust and flash reflection. I just cleaned the cover up and took some more pictures. Here they are:

Let me know if you are interested.

From the Parasound website:

The two outputs are labeled Normal and Direct. The Normal output should be used for amplifiers that you are not sure can protect your speakers from DC in the signal path. The Direct output can be used for all Parasound amplifiers since they include DC Servos to protect your speakers from DC in the signal path. If you are unsure, call you amplifer manufacturer or use the Normal output.

Thanks I missed that.:)

Ok got it all hooked up and....

...it's definitely different from using the Earthquake Cinenova. It's certainly not as bright. I am getting slammed with bass now suddenly. Where did all that come from? I went from a 300 watt amp to 205 and suddenly I am getting a LOT more bass? How does that happen? Also my volume dial on the pre is much lower to achieve the same volumes.

Arghh! Lightening storm. Short break. I think I am going to have to put shot back in my speakers.

Ha ha. Another example of upgrading by downsizing. That's wonderful. Glad to hear you're getting great results from the amp. I used to own one of those 1500A's.

Thanks . It's like my subwoofer is on now:confused: . I need an explanation!

Actually I am listening now some more...... I guess I am used to the detail of the Cinenova. This may take some getting used to. It's really a lot warmer.

Yeah, the 1500 isn't known for great detail. There's always a trade-off between big bass and detail. I think the 1500 makes a very nice HT only amp.

I put the shot back in the VR4 Jrs and the bass has tightened up. It has a really nice bottom end and pushes my Von Schweikerts full range. I will listen to it for a while before I make a final verdict.
Is there a way to run them both? The Cinenova for the highs and the Parasound for the bass?

Absolutely! Bi-amp that sucker and let us know your results. Does your pre have dual outputs? If not, I think you'll need a couple of y-adapters.

It sure does. Just use the Direct output to the HCA1500A, and the Normal outputs to the Cinenova. I bi-amped with my P\HP-850 just like that for a while...well, different amps, of course, but same setup.

And how did you like the results and why did you change from that?

So that would be safe to do? I don't want my speakers to explode. Also my speaker cables are shotgun biwired. I do have another single pair but is it ok to leave one connection end hanging on the biwired pairs? It's my understanding that the normal and direct outputs are two different sounds as well...

Upon further review, the Parasound sounds better by itself. Warmer than I am used to but put the Cinenova back in the mix and it sounded a bit thin and bright in comparison. Guess I am gettin' accustomed to it.
