Ok - Speaker technologies generally do not advance as fast as many things these days.

That said I am reluctant to drop $2600 on a full set of Lsi15's plus Center and surrounds (sans the sub) - these things are more than 5 years old.

With the 2008 Rti release I wonder if the Lsi's will also get an update? Hate to buy these and two months later....wham...press release from Polk.

will probably sit it out and wait. Any rumors?

Also not a good sign used ones only sold for $400 on ebay (see other thread)... That's a 70%drop from retail.

$400 for a good set of LSI 15's is not the norm. They usually go for $700-800.

400 is an unbelievably low price for a used set of 15's. (even with scratches and no grills) the more normal good used price would be in the $750-$1k range.

I think they are awesome speakers (yes, I am biased) but have gone through the "I gotta buy new" stage and now only purchase used.

They are well worth the price that polk asks for them.

With that in mind - it is rumored that a new LSi series will be introduced next year. I love my LSi's and, for now anyway, have no intention of upgrading anytime soon.

They are great speakers. IMO, they are not too old to buy new.

Then BAM: Polk releases the new RTI's.

Who's to say you'd even like the new LSi speakers better? Not every change in a speaker line is an upgrade, sometimes it's just something different...

I love my LSI's, but it might be worth waiting if you want to see what the new ones sound and look like....I really like the look of the new RT series....they may make similar changes in the new LSI's.

You won't be seeing new LSi anytime soon (ie 2007, 2008....). Buy, enjoy.

Thanks everyone for the feedback...

Silverti - I cracked up when I read your posting - but I also agree with PolkManiac - some upgrades make the sound worse. Perhaps even some components are now more expensive and they will use cheaper materials to keep prices down, etc.

I received this from Polk on the question of upgrades: "Thanks for contacting us. At the present time there are no plans to replace the LSi series. Regards, Ken, Polk Audio"

Then again I am in Marketing so what else can they say - they want their distributors to sell existing stock.

The Lsi 15's are new on Crutchfield for $1350 including shipping - doubt any new model will be discounted for some time even if released next year.

Think it is time to own Polk's again (still have some Monitor 10b's sittting in storage) - my AR9's are sounding a little flat these days.

AV Receiver: Marantz 9600
Mains: Acoustic Research AR9's
Surrounds: AR17's
Center: ARbloddysomething

Thanks

I bet you can get them for less than that brand new from ZTech electronics. That's where I got my whole set of LSi's. Authorized dealer and I was very happy with brand new set.

Email or call Kevin at ZTech for price and check it out.

Who cares? My speakers are almost as old as I am. If you like them and they sound good, buy them.
