What would you guys recommend for a reasonably priced set of speakers cables that are also aesthetically pleasing. Would like to stay under the $100 mark.

I'm looking for a 10ft pair for my Dad's new system which consists of a Music Hall MMF-5 Turntable, Bellari VP129 phono stage, Cambridge Audio 540C CD player, Sound Quest SQ-88 Tube integrated, and Energy RC-10 speakers.

BTW. I'm also OK with a good used set.

I would go with Signal Cable, but you'll probably push over the $100 limit for 10' cables. I use the Blue Jeans Beldon gray 12g cable for my HT system, and it's pretty neutral sounding. The Canare S411 is also pretty neutral sounding and at around $2.25 a foot or so is in your budget.

Lots to select from but for your budget I would go with SC as well. My entire HT has SC and you cannot beat it for the price. You cannot go wrong there IMO.

Mapleshade Golden Helix. Right in your price range. Don't let the size fool you, these babies bring it in spades. http://www.mapleshaderecords.com/audioproducts/speakercable.php

How about used cables? You can check out audiogon.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever done any direct comparisons between the Helix and anything else? I've often wondered about their products, but have never tried them for whatever reason.

I still have Signal Doublerun speaker cable, Canare 4S11 bi-wired speaker cables, a few others from various companies. Once I put the Mapleshades in my system I've had no desire to take them out. I was quite surprised to say the least!! :) Enough said. Give them a try (30 day return policy) nothing to lose. That's the only way to find out 1st hand.

Not sure he'll care much for the look of them, but I think I'll order a set to try. Heck if he doesn't like them maybe I'll use them on my system.:D

That's the only way to find out if you'll like how they sound in your system (or your dad's). Especially with Pierre's 30 day trial policy you have nothing to lose. I'll bet you really like them though.
