My TE1004 is out right now, anyone try running the momo components off a high end head unit like a Alpine 9885? it will still sound much better than my stock civic ones right?

yeah, just don't turn the volume up too high, HU power is not clean power and you don't want to hurt your speakers with a dirty signal

Dirty signals wont hurt the speakers so long as theyre under the speakers power handling.

Those Momo components can handle well over 100 watts per channel and your head unit, even fully clipped wont ever put out that much juice. Its just too small.

So yeah, a head unit will run those speakers just not as well as your amp and youll run out of clean power really quick but it will be fine to use until you get your amp fixed or replaced.

Switch the outputs on your radio and see if it switches sides. If it does its the radio. If it doesn't check the wire going from the crossover to the tweeter. Where are the crossovers mounted? If they are under the dash they can pickup radiated noise's from your cars electrical components and wiring.

Is it coming from only one tweeter?

If its coming from both, its probably just a high noise floor which is one of the problems with using head units for power.
