I washed and waxed my Jeep last night. Started so late that I actually ended up using a flashlight to finish waxing. Then I cleaned all the windows.

I HATE cleaning the windows. It's a pain, especially doing the inside, and they're always a mess when I'm done. Well, Dad discovered a new way to do it and taught me, and boy...I've never had windows this clean! I know this isn't a window, really, but it shows how well this method works.

What you'll need:
Napa Glass Cleaner with Ammonia (aerosol)
2 clean microfiber cloths

Directions:
Spray on the cleaner and clean thoroughly with a microfiber cloth. Then, having done that, diligently polish the window with the other one.

Its the cleaner that does it. Any of the aerosol/foam cleaners are great Sprayway, Gleem etc. They stay where you put them and leave no streaks whatsoever. It also works great on vinyl, tile, and plastic. Far superior to Glass Plus, Windex, etc.

Sprayway and newspaper works the best for me. Plus it's safe for window tint.

Dang, I guess I misread Cody's post. You actually use newspaper to clean the windows? What?! Won't the ink bleed or something? Wow, I've never heard of that...

Newspaper for cleaning glass has been around forever keeps from streaking and I don't know how.

I use windex and newspaper on my windows since Ive had a car. Never had a problem. Try it next time you clean your windows...and you dont have to waste your money on 'microfiber cloth'.

No, I use those cloths for washing and buffing the car anyways, so we have quite a few laying around.

But that is interesting about the newspaper. I wanna say I've heard of it before, now, but I've certainly never done it.

Just this year I read a technique about actually waxing the windows with auto wax(not cleaner wax) and then buffing them with a buffer. By far the best thing I've ever done for my car. They don't get dirty, and the rain just beads off them before I even need windshield wipers.

I also use a chalkboard eraser and microfiber cloth on the inside, never had a streaking problem.

Cleaning windows, especially cars windows, is not one of my favourtite things to do. Love cleaning the car, but hate doing the windows. Probably because you have to twist your body to get into the tight corners.
Anyway, about a year ago I watched an ad on TV for a thing called the Glass Wizard. Great, another special from K-TEL. One day a Walmart I see this gizmo and think, for $7, what the hell. Getting streaks out of windows is a must and this little unit IMO is well worth $7. I am still using it today and would buy another one. Easy to use with no chemicals.

Corn starch and warm water work very well. No streaks, but may leave a white powder at edges that wipes up with rag or towel.

Hmmm, that's interesting. Water beads up AND STANDS on my windshield all the time, being an extreme nuisance. Maybe waxing at least the windshield would be a good idea.

I tried waxing the window and it did bead up.

But when i used the wipers, big mistake, the wax was smeared across the windsheld. What a mess and I couldn't see.

You missed a spot on your Jeep! :p

A product called Invisible Glass is the best way I have found to clean glass. Absolutely no residue/streaks left.

White vinegar and water with newspaper. . . streak free window cleaning. Later on you can add olive oil and eat the paper.

My shop uses BonAmi cake soap to polish windows- phenominal, even on 40 year old glass.

Word to the wise - Do not clean your windows with any ammonia product if you have aftermarket tinted windows. (i.e. a tinted film has been applied to the glass)

I use whatever I can find that says "safe for tinted windows" and avoid streaks by using newspaper.

Michael

BTW - Audiobliss - that is certainly one very clean mirror - I may have to pick up some of that to use in the house....

Sprayway has no ammonia and works better than anything else I've used on glass.

Do you guys crumple up the newspaper or just fold it and use it flat? I never heard of this newspaper trick...

I use windex and my ass cheeks to clean my windows. Spray the windex on and then sit on the windshield and move back and forth. The hair on my cheeks acts like microfiber cloth so I never have streaks on my windows. Works great.

Disclaimer: Only try this in the comfort of your own garage with the door closed.

I don't think the glass did that, sounds like you might have another issue. Too many peanuts maybe?

Definately don't do that if you tinted your windows....ruins the tint.
