PLease Help.

This Multi-Channel SACD is making me so confused. If I buy an SACD and it says it plays in multi-channel 5.1 mode does that mean I have to listen to it in 5.1?

I guess my main question is: If I listen to the sacd in 2 channel mode do I loose any information?

My other speakers are no way up to par to the 1.2tl's and I really have no intensions to play music in 5.1

When it comes to music, I think it should in be in 2CH mode only. It just seems strange to play it in 5.1 to me.

TIA,

Lasareath

You can set your player to play in 2 channel only. The discs usually have a high resolution 2 channel track as well.

Don't be so set in your ways, at least listen to it, before you dismiss it out of hand. You just might find that you like hearing your music in 5.1 channels.;)

I'll listen to it. I'm just concerned that I have 600 watts per channel going into the 1.2tl's and like 100 watts into the center and rears.

Actually ALL SACDs have a Hi Rez 2 channel track... Some don't have a 5.1 track and some don't have a redbook track, but 2 channel is a constant.

Sometimes I , while in Direct 5 channel mode on my HK, I set my Oppo to 2 channel plyback and listen to it just through my 7b's.. Sounds amazing both ways to me. I kinda lean towards 5.1 SACD though.

Personally, I have discovered that the SACD hi rez 2 channel sounds best. Your ears will tell you Lasareath. Try switching between the layers and decide what sounds best for you.
