I have a widescreen HDTV and recently got a PS3, pretty much for blue-ray. The other day I bought the movie "Stealth" and enjoyed watching it. I decided to tweak some of the BD/DVD settings just for the hell of it. Now, the movie is in "letterbox" display and I really dont think it was the first time I watched it. If a movie is presented in letterbox, doesnt it usually say so on the case? Anyway, I have gone through the BD/DVD settings over and over, changed every setting I could think of, and I still get the damn black bars on the top and bottom. Does anyone own Stealth on BD? Is it presented in letterbox or did I tweak some setting that I'm not aware of? Please help!

It does say so on the case, under aspect ratio where it says 2.40:1
You may have originally had it set to pan&scan anything over a 16:9 ratio.
It should display with bars on the top and bottom.

You can also play around with the display setting in the green triangle menu. One of the icons looks like a rectangle. You can use this setting to choose between zoom, full, normal, etc. But I think black bars will be the price we pay for seeing all the pixels possible. I was never a big fan of zooming in or stretching images to get rid of the bars...it's a rare movie that fits exactly inside a 1920x1080p box. Theatre dimensions are almost always wider.
