View Full Version : Lost my SDA cable

I lost the SDA cable for my SDA-2B's and right now there aren't any for sale on Ebay. I was wondering what I should do.
Somewhere, I have a box with an assortment of crimp-on electronic connectors. It seems to me that if you used two individual wires, there must be some sort of connectors that will fit. Does anybody know about this, or any other solution?
Also, I'm wondering if it's possible to run the speakers without the cable and without the SDA effect. Would they work? Would both woofers emit sound, or just one?

Take an RCA cable and cut the collar off the pin (don't worry about the blade slot)
In a pinch, I've used speaker wire and stripped the ends just bunched it up in the pin socket.

Need anything Troy? I can go check to see what color the computer room is if needed.

just call Polk customer service up.. and order a new one.. as long as it's blade/blade which i know the 2B's are.. you're set. not expensive at all. and how does one lose an SDA cable? ;)
without the SDA cable or some other cable between the speakers. only the inside mid bass woofers will work. not the outer side ones.. but they still sound great.

Only the early 2B's are blade/blade and that was a very short run. You'll find most are pin/blade.

Yep, nice long RCA stripped like Troy suggested works great.

Actually mine, look like they take 2 blades. I guess I'll contact Polk; I hope they don't charge too much.
By the way, can I assume my Onkyo receivers are common-ground amps, or do I need to contact Onkyo as well?

HA! take that Jesse ;) :p blade/blade
riker, when ordering your SDA cable mention you are a club polk member for I think it's free shipping.
you can also make one.. but me not being very handy with tools... i decided to avoid having to go to the hospital emergency room for a cut off finger or something. I just ordered one from Polk. well worth it im in my book. i think they run under $40
on rare occasions they show up on ebay.. so check there first.. or maybe someone here has an extra one.

Thanks very much for the offer. Apparently I can't send PM's in this forum until I've made at least 10 posts. This one is only my fifth. I'll have to think of some things to post I guess.

I got the cable from bikerboy last weekend. I've set the speakers up and got them working, just with my Ipod and a receiver so far.
I said they were 2B's, but I'm not sure if I actually know that. The manual I have is for the 1C, 2B and I think the CRS. How do I tell 2A from 2B? As I understand it, the original 2 had twin tweeters, so mine aren't those. Mine each have a clear tweeter, two 6.5" woofers and a big passive radiator, 12" I think. The finish is a regular brown wood veneer.

Sounds to me like they are either the SDA-2A or 2B. Do yours look like they are vinyl laminate on the tops, sides and and the lower section in the front? Or, do they look like they have oak tops and bottoms and grill cloth on each side if each speaker? There were always running changes depending on if there were parts left over from one generation switch to the next.

The 2B's will have one stereo driver labeled MW6503 and the SDA driver will be MW6510. In the 2A's, both will be MW6510's.

+1 this is true. the 2A's have veneer, the 2B's have wood laminate top and bottoms. same driver lay out.. even though the drivers are different like JEsse said.

Isn't it the other way around, with the 2B's having the veneer?
