I have recently discovered Polk Monitor series speakers. and am now an addict, I have 4s, 5s, 7s,and SDA2s/ However I have received numerous speakers damaged in shipping, and have had to take them apart for repair. I have found the Monitor 4 uses a MW6502 speaker and that the 5 uses a MW6500, I recently got a pair of 7s and that also had the 6502 speaker, I thought the M4 was the only 4 ohm monitor and that all the rest took 8 ohm drivers, I am new and would appreciate someone to set me straight. Thanks, A

Just a follow up, I thought that the monitor 4's used the MW 6502 4 ohm, and that 5 thru 7's used MW6500 8 ohm? If that is not correct I am under a misconception. I have recd 7's with 6502's in them. Like I say I am confused. Please someone help me!> A

Is the SL 1000 the black dome and the SL2000 the clear dome tweeter? A

According to original Polk Monitor manual:
4A, 4.5, 5jr, 5B,and 7C all used the 6502 6.5" midrange and all are 4ohm. The manual however does not include any of the other variations of the models (5A, 7B, etc).

The SL2000's are the "fish eye" tweeters; the ones in my SDA 2B's have a translucent silver-grey look to 'em, like a dead fishes eye.

strider is right... SL2000's are black faceplate with a silver grey look to them. the SL1000's are silve faceplate. they look different.

do a search on here and you'll find plenty of pictures of both tweeters

That is what I thought was the SL2000, my other tweeters are black and have two wires angling up toward one direction on each tweeter and I cannot tell which is hot or ground. A

iN YOUR OPINION WHICH TWEETER IS BEST TO REPLACE IN A m7? a

I recommend replacing it with exactly what came with it originally, since I have no idea what model you even own.....or are trying to fix. You stated Monitor 7, which is all over the place for tweeter suggestions. They vary by model and year.
