Rear Speaker Angle Advice

I know the recommended rear speaker positioning for a 5.1 HT system is slightly behind and angled slightly towards the listening area, do you guys think that if I mounted my 2 rear surrounds flat against the wall behind the listening area so they are facing each other that would still be ok?
