Recently, the local news station here did a story on people in Oakland, CA committing handicapped parking fraud. Got to the point where the Oakland Police Dept. operated a sting to catch people in the downtown area who basically parked free all day on the street. This morning, I saw it with my own eyes in Oakland Chinatown....an entire block's worth of on-street parking filled with cars with handicapped signs hanging on the rear-view mirrors. Same story on another block once I made a turn. People even looked at me funny when I fed the parking meter.
So for those who wants to do something about it, here you go....
Report handicapped parking fraud (http://www.handicappedfraud.org/)
The above site was part of the news story I mentioned above. You can even get free "Post-It" notes informing those who committed the fraud that they have been reported.
