Help choosing speakers for HT and playing music

I'm just setting up a home/basement theater and have planned on RTia7 with an Onkyo 805. I was going to do a 5.1 system and bi-amp the towers with the 805. I'm going with the CSiA6 center and the FXiA4 or A6 depending on what you guys think.

I'm getting a Hsu sub for Christmas if Mrs. Santa gets the hint.

This is going in a library/theater room and I listen to a wide variety of music... Vivaldi to Death Cab.

Any thoughts? Am I going the right direction?

Welcome to the club, you are heading in the right direction for sure. IF you decide you want to save some coin you can opt for the Rti10s, CSi5, FXi3s, and go with the PB13 Ultra from SVS, or stay with the HSU and put the money into a power amp or a Hi Def media player.

I would definitely take a listen to the LSi9's, LSIc and 7's or surrounds with a good sub before jumping on the RTi band wagon.....I think they're better for music and great for HT too. With a good powered sub and the LSi's set to small, you should have no prob running them with your Onkyo. Personally, I think the RTi series is just too bright (but, I don't know about the new RTiA's). You might be amazed at how clear and bold the LSi's are when playing movies, and they are very deep, refined and easy on the ears with music.

Make sure you have the amplifier juice with the LSi series, since they require a lot more power; they are beautiful speaker. The old RTi series is a very good quality speaker series and is being cleared out to make room for the new 2008 RTi A series; there are some great deals out there. Check out frys, jr, crutchfield etc, for the reduced prices. Good luck. :D

Take your time and listen before you buy. When you audition the speakers, try to run them on equipment that is similar to what you are going to use. I pulled the trigger early a few times and wound up upgrading everything. The wife was NOT happy.

fyi if you have not yet purchased the onkyo 805, cc for about 2hrs yesterday had it on sales for $670 less 10%. i would keep an eye out for it again.. awesome deal if you can snag it.
