Was just considering buying an Outlaw Model 7700 amp and using my Onkyo TX-SR702 as a preamp. Would the Onkyo hold me over or would the matching Outlaw preamp be a better choice?

Hold you over until what?

I meant using the Onkyo as a preamp. Versus going with a matching Outlaw 990/7700 setup.

If it where me, actually its exactly what I'm doing, I'd wait and use the Onk until the 990's successor comes out next year. Unless you just have plenty of money, then hey go for it, the 990 is supposed to be a great pre-amp.

I'd wait too...No reason to buy something you won't be happy with...especially if Outlaw releases the latest model.

Im going to sell the 990 as soon as Outlaw sends it back to me...

Probally for around half price...

Cool, but I think you should keep it. Would work nice for your future HT setup.
