I'm surprised I haven't seen a thread like this here yet, so here goes.

I bought my son the XBOX (20gb HD) yesterday from the big-box store and they tried to upsell me the 2-year extended warranty ($60). After some trepidation, I declined. I don't typically buy into these insurance policies.

As I'm sure most of you arre aware, it covers damage, failure, and noteably, upgrades to a newer or better version if available. That, I thought, was interesting. You still have to pay the difference, but that would be minor. But the gamble is truely failure or an upgrade within 2 years.

So, if your me, do you go back and get the big-box store 2-year extended warranty or not (I think I have 30 days to purchase the extended warranty)?

Personally, it entirely depends on what I'm buying. I did buy one for my PS3 and I'm one step away from using it due to fan and heat issues. I'm sure glad I did.

Your 360 comes with a three year warranty from Microsoft. I wouldn't get the store's warranty, but thats just me.
