My family has had it.

IMO I'd give it a few more months for Verizon to get the bugs worked out. Right now it's just not reliable - constant changes of IP addresses, dropped connections, and there is some macroblocking on the TV channels. Also the TV picture quality varies due to compression.

It's a great service, but I'd give it a few more months for Verizon to get it working reliably.

Fios down in Dallas is very good for internet. No drops, very fast.
I haven't gone the tv route with it yet.

still waiting for them to offer it here. I see Verizon laying cable all over the place so it should be anytime soon

My brother has fios internet and says it's unbelievably fast. They don't offer the phone by him yet, and he's rebuilding his house, so his tvs are not totaly set up, but says so far the picture is good. If cablevision raises my rates, I may switch when it comes around here (I talked to an AT&T guy and a pole outside my house and he says they are working on it right now). I'll be curious to how many HD channels they will offer. I get quite a bunch with cablevision (and the just added CNN HD. Why the hell would anyone need that? Give me the science channel instead!).

I have it as well and I live in the DC area. PQ is better than Comcast, speed is faster than Comcast and way more reliable.

The big downside for me, and my wife who reminds me every other day, is that the "local"(No Box TV) lineup just stinks. I don't have a need for Russian, Latin, Hindi or any other global news and programming and aside from CBS/NBC and FOX....you get 45 channels of world programming. This may vary by area, I have no idea. If I wasn't a redneck, this might be interesting but it's not and I could care less. We also lost the Food Network in the kitchen and I get complaints quite often.

Perhaps a remote gripe....some menu gripe but it's alot about being so used to Comcast.

I may go wireless on a box for the kitchen in the very near future. Overall, I'm very pleased.

Once you start seeing those lawn parasites digging 3x1ft sections thru your well manicured lawn, you have FIOS on the way. They are also liable for the disturbed areas condition, after the work has been performed. You should get the contact information of the contractor being used onsite and if you end up with dead patches of grass/lawn, get them to fix it. It's a fact and its free.

I used to live where they started offering their service first, got it whenever it came available to consumers and it was great from day one. Much better PQ than satellite, much faster internet with great upload speeds. Too bad they don't have it where I moved to.

So, how much are you folks paying for these services?? I may be interested using it for internet access. I see the trucks around I expect it to be available here sooner or later. I live in an older neighborhood and all the wires are above ground, so the service should be easy to run.

I don't have fios, but cablevision's "triple play". It's tv, phone and internet. Mine is probably more expensive then most, but I pay $170 a month. I get every channel (including all the HD they offer), unlimited phone and high speed internet. The internet is plenty fast (as far as I know, fios is faster, but they offer different speeds, and thier fastest speed is a bunch more $$$). I think it's a pretty good deal. I used to pay much more when everything was seperate (I had sprint for my land line).

I have it and love it. The picture quality devestates cable. Mark is right though. The tradeoff is them absolutely destroying your lawn. They knocked out my entire block by cutting through an underground power line and Allegheny Power was PISSED!!!!! I talked to the Power guys and they told me that they are fudging up things everywhere they run the lines. I have had two landscaping companies come out to fix my lawn after Verizon came around. The price is right and I'd pay more to stick it to the cable / dish companies!!!!!
