You guys know I love to improve on things that are out there. What do you guys think about me selling silver 75ohm digital cables? Would you guys be interested? I really have enjoyed switching my system over to silver IC's, and speaker wires. I was thinking why not try silver digital Coax. I have been able to offer real nice silver cables for the price of decent cooper cables that are out there.
Thanks Ben

My reference digital cable I use in both rigs is a Tributaries Silver Digital.

What are "digital cables"?

Its that thin cable that goes from your mouse to your computer...:p
Seriously though...What is the plus with going silver? I thought when sending a digital signal, the type of conductant doesnt matter, just so the signal gets there. Unlike analog, digital is either there or not. Right?

Rut-row, I'll go start some popcorn. This may get interesting!

I thought the same also. I saw a Monster (please don't slap me) digital coax for $5 on clearance at rat shack($50 cable), and it did make a substantial difference in SQ. I was one who believed that cables didn't make a difference years back, and then I tried different IC's to have an open mind. Then I bought some nice AQ speaker wires at a ridiculous price that really opened me up to what a good speaker cable can do. OK I get to digital, and I was in the school of thought that a 1 is a 1, and a 0 is a 0. The Monster did sound much fuller, and tighter than the cable in a box type wire. I should be able to produce a Silver 75ohm cable at a real decent price:)

For analog, you are absolutly 100% correct.
OK I get to digital, and I was in the school of thought that a 1 is a 1, and a 0 is a 0.
And your axactly correct. 1 is 1 and 0 is 0. Since my life mostly revolves around HT, I have done an ABC and D comparison with digital coax cable, from the cheap HTIB cable to Monster to some 24k gold, rediculously priced cable, no difference could be found (in digital). I did find a difference in sound quality between coax and optical (I think it has more to do with the I/O than cable), but not one "cable" made a difference. Unless I wasnt using high enough quality cable..

I'm behind you on this Ben, I might even buy one from you. Cause they are just so darn pretty.:D:D:D
I didnt mean to start another cable debate (trust me!!), I was just wondering what could be the cause of different audible sounds between digital cables? unlike analog that carries frequency and resistance, digital is a completley different animal.
No Popcorn needed for this.. We agree...:)

Same thing that causes analog cables to sound different. Your imagination.

So you honestly believe that there is a difference in the sound of digital coax cables? How? Does it change the data being transmitted?
I would love an explanation, I'm sure others are curious as well.

Hey, you gave me quite a laugh, I figured I could at least return the favor.:)
Did you bother to read which line of yours I quoted?

There was only one line in my post, but whatever.
Does that mean that you don't think digital coax makes a difference, and therefore they are imagining it? But you just don't think that's possible with analog cables?

This isn't a cable debate thread! I can produce a very high quality Digital Coax cable in silver for a very reasonable price. I wish I could not tell the difference in real nice cables, and crap ones. I would have much rather spent my cable money on better... instead of wires.
This thread is just a thread about if people would be interested in cheap Silver Coax cables. If you want to do a cable debate do a search on cables and blast away there
Thanks Ben
Maybe I should have done a poll?

Ben my appologies, I truely didnt mean for this to start, I was curious. I would be interested in your new cables, and I stand behind you making great cables.

That comment was not directed at anyone in particular. I should have posted it earlier. We all know what happens when you say the word cable:)

Thats the beauty of digital media, error checking. However, when you get scratches involved, the interpolation may be better/worse on different gear.
My coax is silver-coated copper. I don't if its better than just copper, but it looks cool. :)

Have you [or anybody] had any experience with improved sound on XM radio / sat. / cable? [not that that's the shiznit for a source, but a source none the less.]
Never really thought about upgrading this particular component, but with the experience I have had with other components, it just makes sense.
If so, I'd be interested. ;)
