i purchased a Emotiva LPA amplifier, i ran a 7.1 system with my Onkyo 805

well i hook up the amp to the onkyo via interconnects, run the audio setup on the Onkyo and its only registering as 5.1 now, the rear surround speakers are not being detected, though they are getting sound, but its the sound from the front L speaker(figured this out by running a test tone thru the seperate channels)

i've read the manuals and cant quite figure it out

anyone have any insight?

Check you wire connections again. It has happen to more then 1 person, plugging into the wrong connections. Make sure that you are plugged into the correct pre amp outs and nothing is plugged into the speaker terminals out.

Could you have the amp set up wrong? Info from EMO:

"Configurable power output as follows: 125 watts/8 ohms x 6 channels or 125 watts/8 ohms x 5 channels plus 2 x 50 watts/8 ohms x 2 channels"

I do not know much about the LPA1 except what a hear that it is a great audio deal. So I have no idea what is involved with this configuration, if it is a switch or jumper or done with s/w commands. Just an idea, even though that doesn't sound like it would give you signal to them if they are configured for a second zone.

figured it out after going thru the manual set-up, speakers were set to bi-amp on the receiver
