I finally decided to add a tuner to my system so I poked around on audiogon and ebay....
Picked up a Sony ST-SA50ES and it sounds great, I never knew FM sounded this good.
Don’t get me wrong, this is no critical listening source, just pleasantly surprised.

Russ finds 'em from time to time......if you really want to hear something sweet, pick up a vintage tube tuna.

...and after the 5th song you will soon realize that they play the same songs over and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over........
Then you get to switch the stations and listen to X-mas music over and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over........
AaaarrrgghhhHH!

The other problem it is not cd quality

But the best part....
I will have more money in connecting it to the antenna in the attic then the purchase of the tuner.

That too.
Try listening for special broadcasts on Sunday night. That's when the real music comes on. At least 'round here. ;)

Look for university and public stations. They are all under 92mhz. Anything over that is going to be commercial, overcompressed dreck. A good tuner can sound really good given the right station. Some uni stations still spin vinyl and have a ton of dynamic range. They will not sound "loud" compared to the others, but just give the volume a bump and make sure you get a good signal and the sound can be quite lovely.

I didn’t just discover there are radio frequencies out there that my system can turn in to sound...

When I post, I am aware that this is a public forum and the information is for everyone. In this modern day, there are many people that have either never thought about a tuner, or forgot that there are still good non-commercial stations out there beaming out quality music. To be fair, you did not have a tuner until recently, as evidenced by the thread here.
In other words, this is Club Polk, not you guys' personal frathouse. Could you keep that in mind?
Jeez, give the guy a break.

Well Jesse was rollin' down the road in some cold blue steel,
He had a blues man in back, and a beautician at the wheel.
He was going downtown in the middle of the night
He was laughing jokin' feelin' alright.
F1 is bad, he's nationwide.
Yes F1's bad, he's nationwide

Easin' down the highway in a '99 Caravan,
He had a fine fox in front and three more in the back.
They sportin' short dresses, wearin' spike-heel shoes,
They smokin' Lucky Strikes, and wearing nylons too.
'Cause Jesse's bad, he's nationwide.
Yeah he bad, he's nationwide.
Well Jesse was movin' down the road in his V6 Dodge,
He had a shine on his boots, he had his sideburns lowered.
With a New York brim and his gold tooth displayed,
Nobody give him trouble cause they know he got it made.
Jesse's bad, he's nationwide.
Well Jesse's bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, he's nationwide

Tuna, that always makes me laugh. Sup RT, Waaaaaaaaaaaaa!
I still can't get the stations i want with my Tuna, I probably need to live higher off the ground... I listen to my favorite station in my car, van, pimp mobile, phat cave, rice rocket, rust bucket, 6 shooter, general lee, green machine, whatever you want to call it... it always amazes me how well the car radio picks up stations compared to a stationary device.
