In keeping this brief so I can do some more listening I'll say,

Smooth and S O U N D S T A G E.

I'll try to give a review in a few days but this thing has all original packaging even the glove and screwdriver if I wanted to change the tubes and the original tube boxes are there in mint condition, ha.

Psyched about the HT bypass and the remote which I quickly had my main remote learn the functions for!

Brilliant!

yep,

gonna have to spend alot of money to get a significant improvement as far as a tube pre.

Icant remember what tubes I used for it last, but i know I liked it. Alot of people like the Jan Phillips green labels, but they came off a tad bright to me. keep in mind, my listening area might have had more to do with that than the tube istelf. I used them before I had my room treatments up.

only thing that put the Anthem on the sideline was me going the pasive preamp route and liking it for my very unusual listening environment.

that said, despite me not using it, my Anthem is going to stay in my house for a LONG time. I'm just finding a place for it.

Yes, eyeing up tubes now...just gotta save more dough.

I kept wondering about "synergy". I thought "I have a few nice pieces" but didn't think I had "it". But this preamp really gave me what I was looking for -or thought what I was looking for since I never had a tubed pre. I'm pretty happy.

After I try out another amp - probably Parasound and maybe something else in comparison to the Rotel and tweak a bit with different ICs I may be satisfied...maybe.

Still gotta work on the wife for room treatments! Surely Pic's and a review are on the way in the days to come

My Large Audio rack is REALLY, REALLY full now this thing was bigger that I was thinking!

The best tubes I rolled were Mullards. The best mod is a pair of Sonicaps on the output stage to the tune of $100(DIY). Don't sweat Special Edition mods as they are a waste of time for that pre-amp.

To see the Anthem you can go to the showcase page - I just updated with new pics.

I've been through 2 new (to me) pres and a new pair of speakers (Tylers) since I last took a photo.
