Where to buy new speakers

when i got my first car two years ago i have gone all out for car audio. im running with all polk stuff. i never have done anything with home audio before so i had some questions about it. first off, my father offered me some of his old speaker cabinets if i would refurbish them and put em to good use. The model number is Acoustic Research AR-2ax. The cabinets are beautiful but the speakers need some help. after looking around online i can't find any good place to buy new home audio speakers to replace them. i was looking for two sets of 10" woofers, 4" mids and tweeters. if people could point me in the right direction for purchasing nice home speakers that would be great. oh yea my budget is around 400 total.

Try 'Googling' woofers, tweeters. You should get a bunch of hits for speaker components.

try ebay for speakers that would you could get to replace the bad ones in yours. you might have to search by model number on the tweeter or woofer. as someone said, partsexpress might have some that would fit and work, but the sound may be different if you don't replace all the speakers in both cabinets.

you might have to also upgrade the crossovers too.. or at least I would to bring them back to their original glory days.

thanks, yea i plan on scrapping everything, and just using the cabinets. like i said this is my first expedition into home audio so it prob wont end up being the best system ever but something to listen to.
oh yea since i have all polk stuff in my car is there a place to buy just polk speakers? or would i have to go to ebay for that? if not, what are the best woofers and mids for under @ 75 a piece?
