Would you buy a Vizio 52" Flat Screen HDTV?? Keeping in mind that your are not considering any other TV's? Basically, is the Vizio brand up to par?

from Consumer Reports "Value-priced LCDs and plasmas. Originally sold only in warehouse clubs, Vizio TVs are now in Wal-Mart and in some Circuit City and Sears stores, usually at low prices.
The company's early LCD TVs were middling at best, but some recent sets have done better. The few Vizio plasma sets we've tested have done decently.
We don't have enough repair data to discuss reliability."

Also for what it's worth the LCD ratings on consumer reports for each size category shows them in the bottom half. But like anything, how does it look to you?

if it looks good to you and the price is right.....

I agree. We once had a neighbor that bought a (used) Subaru Forester on the strength of excellent Consumer Reports ratings. It was in and out of repair for 6 months before they brought it back to the dealer for replacement under warranty. We moved elsewhere, so cannot provide any further updates on the saga.

If you like it, it might be right for you.

No. It's up to par with tech several years old.

Here's a great way to judge picture quality, look for a dark area such as a suit of room, how much detail can be seen. I've used that test for 25+ years. Just recently I was in the market for a 42in plasma/lcd. I looked hard at the Vizio's because price-wise they are usually the least expensive. To me, they just didn't offer the detail that the others brands did. In the end I chose a Panasonic 42in plasma that I managed to get a killer deal on, $750 after a $200 rebate (which arrived in six weeks as promised).

I bought one for my bedroom but wouldnt use it as a primary set. I am very happy with the purchase considering I got a 42 inch set for $700 with a 3 year warranty. Look for the link on the Vizio website for "last years models" and you can get a slammin' deal on an okay set.

I must clarify however, this is the fifth tv I own and is the fifth best quality in the house although I am very happy with it for watching porn in the bedroom with the GF>

Not no but HELL NO!!!

There are way too many good deals on much better brands for not much more. When I can get a 50" LG, Samsung or Hitatchi for $1400 or a Panasonic 50" for $1600, Vizio wouldnt even be a consideration. And thats not even taking into consideration the 50" Samsung DLP for $1000!

Would you buy a Kia if you could get a BMW for the same price or just a little more?

A wise man once said and its the creed I live by, "the sweetness of low price soon fades while the bitterness of low quality lingers."
