Does Peter Frampton's "Frampton comes alive" album still hold the record for highest selling live album? Just curious if anyone has beat him out yet...

According to Wikipedia, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_albums_in_the_United_States)that distinction now belongs to Garth Brooks' "Double Live". (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_Live)

Double Live shouldn't count because each unit sold counts for two. I remember it being a big controversy because Brooks could have easily released it on one CD, but was aiming for the record. Geek, indeed.

Why would anything by Garth Brooks sell like that?

Because all those hot, country women just love him. Don't you wish you owned a hat and sang country Joe.

Actually, I remember reading somewhere, that G.B. was 3rd behind Led Zep, and the Beatles for most platinum awards. I still can't believe he beat out the Stones, Elvis etc.
I guess there's more 'bubbas' on this planet than we realized:eek:

First of all, RIAA only accounts for record sales within the US. Go outside the US and most people would go "Huh??" when Garth Brooks is mentioned.
As for number of records sold, according to the RIAA, read it and weep (http://www.riaa.com/goldandplatinumdata.php?table=tblTopArt) as GB is the biggest-selling male solo artist at 123 million copies sold. To put this in perspective, ABBA, an act with a much bigger influence around the world, is only at 10 million copies sold in the US (go to the last page of the link).

So I wasn't misinformed, or misinterpeted the stats.
BTW, I wasn't commenting on the populations taste in music, just REALLY surprised at the ratings

apparently Brooks is good, if selling records is a measure. I am going to buy one of his records, I like that low places song of his.
For some added country honey check out that This is how we do it in Dixie song video by Hank Williams Jr., a real tribute to Tasty..... I mean Tasteful Babes everywhere.
