Just when I thought there were little left of the R50's, Fry's has them on sale again here in the SF Bay area. $99.98 for the pair, in black vinyl only. Price should be good through the holiday weekend. This is the lowest price I have ever seen them.

I'll be there after work today to see if I can find a pair. Part of me wishes they run out of stock because I don't need another pair of speakers! :-)

I thought the bass was ok, the highs were kind of smeared though. (Keep in mind I am used to listening to my LSi's) For the price difference, they are a nice speaker, but I would put the same money twords something vintage for a better sound IMO.

Quite good if they are your first Polk.

Hi Ron,

I hope all is well. In 2007, I finally caved and got what my heart really wanted, the VA Mozart Grands. I got them used on Agon and it worked out pretty well. They are incredible for music and good for HT too (meaning there are better speakers for HT).

Now thanks to Fry's of Palo Alto, I got a set of brand new R50s in black too. I think Fry's just got another shipment of R50s because the boxes look factory fresh and it has the Fry's price tag of $99.00 on them. Two years ago the Fry's price tag showed $199 each. And if any of you guys go looking for them, you need to ask a sales person for them. They are not on display but they said there's plenty in the back.

Ben...for HT, the R50s are fantastic speakers. It's only when you start using them for music that you start to want something better. And at $100/pair, I don't think anything else can touch these. A lot of us started with the R50s and I'm sure this is why there's a fondness for them (at least for me).

Now if I can just find a special deal on the matching CSi25 center channel. :-)

My Polk R300 sound good but will probably leave you wanting more if you use them in a large room as I did. When I bought my R300 at HHGregg for $30 a piece I had listened to a way overpriced set of floor standing Monitors that sounded much better. After owning my R300 for six months the better sounding Monitors naggd at me so once I heard about the bettr sounding RTi speakers going on sale the bug bit me and I broke down and bought a set of RTi8 and matched them with the fxi3 and CSi5 with little regret.

Just noticed your last post and was wondering if the Polk CSR would be a match for your R50s? It's about $80 at HHGregg.

Didn't know Polk offered speakers on Ebay now.

Just FYI. I just picked up an opened box (customer return) CSi25 from Fry's in Sunnyvale for $29.90. I had the clerk check their inventory system to find this one in Sunnyvale. Most stores either have 1 or none left in stock. Glancing over the clerk's shoulder, I saw a few stores still with 1 in stock. They are priced $29.90 in the computer system.

This paired with the R50 should be great for the family's future movie and gaming system!
