Was just wondering -
How low does modern music go? I was always under the impression that it was higher than 30-40 Hz.
But the other day I was listening to "The Longships" by Enya (Watermark), and if I'm correct, it felt like there was subsonic bass. Can anybody with the CD verify this? All I know is that it seemed much lower than I have ever heard.
And that is with the sub set flat, BTW.

Is that for the entire track or just part of the song? The entire CD seems to have ridiculously low bass.

Just part of the song on that track. Mostly towards the end at the crescendo. +1 on the rest of the album, Lots of woofer racking bass. Be careful!
Gonna go listen to it right now! Thanks for reminding me.

Well, as some reference the last key on the piano A1 is at 28.5 hz if I remember right, there are some pipe organs that can go lower, after that some synth stuff but not anything I really would recommend.

I went to a bash one time and there was a really sharp, cutaway model of an AR-3a, with its 12" woof silently pumping away to a 5 Hz signal. Great demo.

The longest pipe on a large pipe organ (32 foot) has a fundamental of 16 Hz. Practically speaking, that's as low as music goes.

Synthesizers are another story.

I was worried when my sub driver was moving back and forth violently but I didn't hear any sound.
But my sub is set very low so it's not hot by any means.
