Any opinions on this player? The whole NAD Master Series is very well reviewed by the mags & end users. I've been doing some reading & it sounds like a very good piece. No local dealer for me to give it a listen though.

Just food for thought, I've also looked at Marantz, Esoteric, Ayre & a few others. The NAD M5 is by far the most reasonable in price compared to all the others. Sometimes you really have to wonder if spending 2-4x the money is that much different to one's ears. It's almost impossible to get 2 of them side by side for an A/B comparison.

The Master Series is another project headed up by Bjorn Erik Edvardsen (aka BEE). Pretty much whatever this guy designs is very well received & admired.

Might just be worth looking into.

I hope everyone's Christmas is going well!! I know mine sure is!

I'm addicted to tubes now so that is not one I would be looking into!

If I can get some SDA's I can build an AI-1 for I'm very interested in the Master series integrated. Sharp looking pieces of gear that seem to have everything.

I think I'm with Joe on this one. There seems to be some good stuff happening with that Kavent tubed CDP I bought recently off the Flea Market. I'm gonna fire up the Bel Canto DAC2 soon and do a side-by-side. If that cheap tubed CDP seems to be doing as well vs. the Bel Canto as I think it's doing, I'll be looking up the tubed CDP food chain myself. So far the Cary gear is at the top, like the 303/300 or the 306 if I can find the right deal.

I have also heard great things about the Cambridge 840C and the Rega. The Cary stuff is also pretty good from what I hear. Any news on the 250A?

Hey V,

Hopefully the amp should be ready for pickup on Saturday. That's if Krell shipped the parts as promised. :)

I looked at the 840C along with the Rega. Cary also makes great stuff. But it just seems that the NAD M5 offers a lot for the money. Take in consideration the excellent reviews it receives, it definetely deserves a closer look.

There are plenty good players out there that's for sure.

The NAD M5 is an excellent sounding player. I demoed it during the summer and was quite impressed with it's sound.
I ended up buying the 840c because i already had a sacd/multiplayer (denon dvd-3930ci)and i wanted the best redbook player within my budject.
