View Full Version : Shielding with Iron...?

I'm trying to shield my TV from an unshielded speaker I'd like to use as a center channel. Obviously there's the bucking magnet option, but I've read there is often a change in speaker voice -- which would neutralize the whole reason I'm using the unshielded speaker (matches the L/R fronts).

Has anyone ever just put the speaker on an iron shelf right above the screen? Wouldn't that take care of any magnetic field that might damage the TV?

Ok, I'm no expert on this, but I've never heard a thing about bucking magnets changing the voice quality. Do you have the article? Iron is magnetic, so I think you would need a non-magnetic metal, but I have no idea if that would work.

I also think iron wouldn't be the best choice.
Think you would want to use an insulating non conducting material, foam or rubber or?
