I just started this hobby and I need some help. I need a subwoofer that would integrate with the Magnepans. Im still on the planning stage. Currently I have a B&W 602S2 and Sunfire TGA5400. I hope you guys could help me choose the right sub for the maggies.

Welcome to Club Polk! Which Magnepan speaker do you have? I have the 1.6QR's and use an SVS SB12+ sub with them.

I have been reading your post regarding the SB12+. And it was your post that really interest me in magnepans and SVS and upgrading my system. I just wanna say thank you. Yesterday I went to a dealer of Maggies and Rel. It was so tempting that I was confused on what to purchase. I was thinking of purchasing two T1 or one R 205 and a MMG. On the other hand with your post regarding the SB12+ I was thinking of MMG12 or 1.6 and the SVS. At the end it always boils down to my budget and the Rel is so expensive but it does very well integrate to the front speakers without noticing that you have a Sub in front of you. But I never audition a SVS SB12+. So what do you think. Im really glad that it was you who first replied to my inquiry in this forum in my quest for upgrading my system. Once again thank you

The REL subs are in my mind, pretty close to the top of the food chain for musical subs, and ability to integrate with the fast planar panels of the Magnepans. I found the SVS SB12+ to come very close to the REL Storm I also had as a comparison, and the SVS was at half the price. SVS does have a pretty nice trial period and return policy, so it's pretty low-risk to try.
With the MMG's I would look at the REL Q106 (I believe that's the model?). It's their small sub and a friend of mine has dual one's with his MMG's. It sounds fantastic. As you move up to the Magnepan 12QR, the 1.6QR, or the 3.6R's, my suggestion would be to run them without a sub for a while, then decide if you really need a sub. They put out more bass than the Magnepan's of many years ago, and because the bass is quick and detailed, and comes out of the whole panel, it's surprising how much bass there is. I use the single SVS SB12+ to fill in the lower octaves, it's running very low SPL and you don't really notice it until you turn it off.
Also, if you order the MMG's, you have a year I believe to get full trade-in value to one of the larger Magnepan's. Unbeatable deal!

When I run my 3.3R's in a big room, I have no problem addin the SVS PB12+2 into the mix. Mark (Doro) added an SVS PC+ 25-31 to his 3.5r's with little or no issues. Bang for the buck, I'd go with SVS and use the savings on the next bigger set of maggies.

You don't need a bone crusher, just a solid performer. I would go with something small and fast like the REL T series or similar subwoofer. The base model SVS, PB10?, is a decent choice as would the Polk Micro-Pro series....hint hint.

If you can wait, I would hold off on buying a sub until some reports on the Polk micro series are available!

Stereo Micro-Pro's sound good to me :)

Thanks guys. I think I will go for the SVS 12+ since I heard good reviews and integration from dkg999 in his Magnepans. Im pretty sure I will upgrade again soon for my Maggies. Next upgrade 1.6. Once again thank you
Rel Q108 / Totem Acoustic 'Storm'. Two compact current-production sub's that posses the speed and tone to match a good set of panels. Neither will break the bank.
I'd love to check out the SVS SB-12 Plus. In all honesty, I haven't had too much success running a few of their subs in stereo applications. It looks like the SB12+ takes a genuine stab at the jack-of-all-trades application. Good luck!
