Great Read Jesse. It is sad to see the industry making recordings in overdrive just to compensate for the downloadable sect. Phooey I say!

Another good read on this subject would be the book written by Bob Katz, "Mastering Audio the art and science" by Focal press.
No further comment right now. This subject and the end result of some of today's music puts me in a bad mood. That said, I'm going to put in Donald Fagan's "Morph the Cat" and enjoy a properly recorded album. Phffffft.

Interesting. The few that I own on the list (Lyle Lovett, Roger Waters, Talking Heads et al) are in heavy rotation for a reason.
