View Full Version : Nakamichi CD player on CL - jump or no?
I've found a Nakamichi OMS-3A CD Player on CL. The owner says it will sometimes eject a CD right after it is inserted but once in it works fine. Manufactured in 1986, which is kinda old.
I've heard very good things about Nakamichi equipment from the 80s, what are your thoughts on this player, and assuming the quirk is ironed out, should I jump on it for $75?
Thanks.

For me it has an issue and it's old. Not worth messing with.

Not everyone buys brand new CD players. Some do like the older ones, too. Like me! Not that I wouldn't mind having a new one but I'm just not wanting to fork out a grand or more for one...just yet. I don't think my less than stellar ears could hear enough of a difference to justify it! :D

While NAK is legendary when it comes to cassette decks, they didn't buy into the CD technology soon enough and by the time they realized it was THE new format they were too far behind and never caught up. Their CDPs were never "all that" from the beginning and given that there has been a lot of improved technology in the last 22 years...I would pass. I would spend my $75 on something from the last few years from the likes of NAD or Cambridge Audio...many of which can be had in the $150 ± range and would be much better SQ wise.
