View Full Version : Small LI gathering - Feb 1st

OK, sorry for the short notice on this, but...

The holiday get-together originally scrapped due to work will now be held at my house

on Friday, Feb 1, 2008. Approximate start time will be about 11:30 AM, and run til 3:30 PM.

Lunch will definitely be served to those who attend; nothing fancy, but no one will go

hungry, I promise you. Any Polkies who'd like to attend, please post interest here (or in a

PM), and I will send out directions. And before you post comments about the day and time,

just realize that it's next to impossible for me to host something on any other day (except

maybe Thursday), and I figured it's as good an excuse to take a three-day weekend as

any? At least those people heading west on the LIE for their trip home should not hit too

much traffic? :) Thanks for reading.

Anyway, I wish I could make it down to this meet but unfortunately I have class. :(

That kind of class? No way. Never have, never will. Who needs that? Just another thing to burden my small brain.

I said "I don't know if cables make a difference, since I have never tried different cables in my system."

Yes, I intend to have another one in april/may with twice the amount of food!

I have taken the day off to come out to your house Harry!

Should I bring anything?, Food?, Wine?, Gear?, My Coffee Machine?

Sal

Definitely. In fact, mail that coffee machine ahead of time (just in case YOU can't attend!)

Seriously, just anything (CD, DVD, etc.) you may want to see/hear, OK? We should be good

to go for the rest.

Sal, there will be a $100.00 surcharge at the door for any member that has been banned. If you are able to maintain good behavior during your stay, you will get 75.00 back when you leave.

The 25.00 goes toward the extra security measures put in place for the event.

Joe, you are more than welcome at my home; no worries, we'll be doing more of these out here as the year progresses, I'm sure, so maybe next time? Or maybe if Lasareath does another one, we can all meet up there.

Sucks about the rain for tomorrow, but hopefully we'll stay dry.

I hope you guys have a great time and let me know what happened!

polrbehr
02-01-2008, 05:25 PM
Everyone headed out about an hour ago, and I just finished cleaning up (next time I hire someone :p)

It went about as expected, considering the lousy weather and all :(.

I hope everyone had a good time, and that you got home safely. It's nice when a group of people with a common interest can meet up and share some good times. Even my friend from work (who's not nearly into all this as we are) asked about getting some new gear soon!

It was a good day all around, and I will definitely look to doing something again soon.

Thanks to all who attended.

Oh, I'll get some pix up as soon as I get my new computer hooked up.

Thanks again Harry! Food was great. The Rti10's driven by that Adcom are simply awesome. Enough has been already been said about SVS subs on this forum so need to comment on it. I will say you did a great job of setting it up. HT or music, you can't tell where the bass is coming from.

I liked the impromptu speaker stands for my LSi9's. Do you have a website I can order from? :D

Thanks to Sal and his wood for making the 3 hour car trip for a 1 hour stay. Dedicated Polkie!

Yeah, much as I hate to admit it (j/k), you're correct.

Funny thing, each set had their own merits, but I would not say I thought one was necessarily "better" than the other. And I still think the MITs had a broader low end response, but the Goertz' had a crisper high end- not bright, though. Having said that, I'd like to hear them with the RTi10s here some day. And as you already stated, those MITs can always be used as welding cables if needed.

Yo Face, I get the coasters on the table metaphor, too. :D
And you can mark that Belkin as sold, too, OK?

The Belkin is yours too. Tuesday or Wednesday it should be ready to go.

As for the cables, I should have taken notes in between so I could have done a lengthy write up. I'll try to put something together though.

What are the odds that these things always seem to happen on days you can't make it ?

Really, when is a good day/time/month for you, appadv? How much notice do you need?

I'd offer up my place for a meet, but right now the HT is still in the process of being built and there is no drywall on the ceiling.

Hey Mike, are you going to the auto show?
