I own rti6 for fronts. I was wondering if I upgraded to rti8s would there be a big difference in sound for a ht system. Im running a hk avr 347.
I bought a pair but didnt plan on opening them, just selling them. Should I keep em??

I don't know much about your receiver. The 8s have quite a bit more bass than the 6s.

If you have enough power for them, you certainly will notice a diff.

I read up on your receiver. It's listed at 55 wpc. I think you could easily blow a tweeter or driver if you crank them up too much.
The Rti8s are rated for 20-250 wpc. If you had more power, you'd get more sound/quality without having to turn it up.
Just my 2cents.
Good luck.

It has pretty good power for RTI8s, but I plan on moving them to the rear and getting some 10s or 12s up front along with an amp (maybe Onkyo M282)

I have both the 8's and the 6's and I have an Emotiva LPA-1 and use the 705 as a pre. The difference I noticed was the 6's sounded a tad better in the high end in both 2 channel and in the HT setting. The 6's don't handle as much power as the 8's so the lpa-1 really pushed them and they do sound good, however I listen to my system mostly in the HT setting and the 8's just have a fuller sound especially in the mid range. The bass I don't worry about because the h100 does an awesome job. So, I think it comes down to how you listen to your system. I do believe the 8's will sound better if you have more power 55wpc may not do them justice, I haven't run my 705 to the 8's so I don't know how they will sound, but everything I've read in the forum says it does just fine. I've kept the 8's as my mains and will probably sell my 6's.

Well first off, HK rates there wattage differently than the other brands. I upgraded from a onkyo 605 with 90wpc and the HK 55wpc SMOKES the onkyo in sound, way louder, way better sound quality and just a way better reciever, but it also is alot more difficult to use. lol. Im still trying to figure it out. Onkyo was really user friendly. Thanks mj for your input. I was debating on selling the 8's and I think I will cause my 6's sound amazing with my svs sub. I defintely dont need more bass lol.

But there is a downside. I ran all my components through my onkyo and one hdmi to my tv. The picture was great! When you do that with the HK the picture quality suffers! So I run my dvd and directv box straight to my tv via hdmi and components to my hk for sound. Works out ok, will work out great when I get my logitech harmony 880!!
