Can't decide which speaker to get. They will be used for music only.No movies. Just music.Classic rock.No heavy metal or even loud classic rock.

The Rti6 is an excellent speak. I have no experience with the Monitor line but my vote is for the 6.

I keep reading that they are very bright.

40's are a tad on the bright side too. I noticed this when I replaced them in the front with my 70's and put them as surrounds. Heluva surround speaker though.

I bought the 40s and ended up taking them back and buying the rti6s. I bought them for 5 dollars less than I bought the 40s for so it was definately a good upgrade! Plus they sound better!

Are the 6's ok for just music? No movies.

I had the same choice and went with the RTi6. IMO there's no better speaker in its price range. Get the 6's. Excellent choice for classic rock and they work well for HT if you decide to use them for movies later on.

The RT stands for Reference Theater which means HT ready in my book.
