View Full Version : Is the price difference between RTi10's and RTi8's worth it?

Hi I'm sort of really new to this speaker stuff and I have just a couple of questions.
I can get RTi8's for $400 here (I live in Canada) and the RTi10's are $500. I really love the sound of the RTi8's, at least when they're setup at the store, but I can't find display models of the RTi10's anywhere. So is the $100 price difference worth it for the RTi10's?
Also, right now I have a really junky sub, if I got the RTi8's would I have to buy a new sub as well?
From what I've read around here it looks like the new RTi 2008 series is the same as the RTi series except it looks different.
Thanks in advance.
Oh and one more question. For a center channel speaker, would the new RTi2008 center channel speakers go just as well with the old RTi8's or am I pretty much limited to the CSi3 or CSi5?

I just bought the Rti8 on boxing day sales at FS. Couldn't find a Csi5....i bought the CsiA6 instead. That's the advice i got form different forums (including this one). I'm STILL waiting for the peaker wire to hook it up, so i can't comment on how good it sounds.
FYI, the cherry CsiA6 was $100 off at FS lately. I got them to knock off $80 when i bought the black a few weeks ago. It's fairly new, so they might not be on sale for a while.
As for the sub, i also bought the PSW505 from FS....it was a really good price and our options are limited in Canada.
Cheers!

Hey, I just bought a black Csi5 brand new from Crutchfield.com about two weeks ago. They said I ordered their very last one. I ordered it because I too picked up a deal from Future Shop on the Rti8's. However, they didn't have them in stock. So they said I would have to wait for their boxing day shipment to come in... and well it never did. Long story short they ended up giving me the New RTia5 for the same price. Now I am waiting on my Csi5 coming in the mail which doesn't match my towers :( I too live in Canada hence why the darn speaker is taking soo long to get to me.
Would I be breaking the forum rules by requesting a possible trade?

Nope. That's entirely between you and the prospective trader.

Thanks...I've been reading this forum for quite some time but I'm a Newb when it comes to interacting. Now apparently I need 10 replies before I can send a pm. Oh well.. Here's # 2

All I can say is get involved and stay awhile. I peruse 20+ forums and it's the best one of the bunch.

I did an A/B test between the RTi8 and 10's a couple years ago at Fry's and thought the 10's sounded a lot better. To me the 8's were kind of bright and harsh in comparison. I would buy the 10's and take the sub out of the mix until I could get a nice one.

From what i understand, the CsiA6 and Csi5 are the same (old model, new model). So if you got the RtiA5 (which is the new model of the Rti8), then the Csi5 should match them, shouldn't it?
Someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes, you are defiantly right sound wise they are identical. Cosmetically however, they do not match and after all isn't that what we are all most concerned about?
Kidding...but all the same it would be nice you have our speaker set up match.
If you are interested let me know.:)
