Excellent. If you love documentaries, this is a must-have collection. We watched disc 1 and 2 last night. Informative, interesting, and awesome images. Want show that HDTV off? Here ya go!

Can't wait to get home tonight and watch the other 2 discs.

Hint: It lists for $99, but can be bought new on Amazon for $66 for the 4 disc set.

I agree, though I have this series on the Red Format. Excellent PQ/SQ and worth every coin spent.

I watch it on HD Direct Tv, looks awesome and agree very awe inspiring stuff about our planet, I bet it looks that much better on 1080p. Well worth 66 bucks.

only reason i haven't added this to my collection is because i'm unsure of the replay value. what do you all think?

It's zero, save the cash and Netflix it.

I'd have to agree, probably not something you'd watch as often as a popular movie.

While I'd agree you won't watch it over and over, it's still worth the money to have in the collection. I've watched the entire series in pieces a couple times now, and like having the discs around for when I'm in the mood for some great scenery.

it's also good to have for when family and friends come over - I haven't met anyone yet who wasn't amazed...

sounds great. sometimes when i have company, i like to have something playing in the background. but nothing like a movie that totally draws them in. just something nice to look at and i think this would fit the bizill.

I picked up the standard version for $50 from Amazon. The non-HD version is pretty darn good. It is something that I will watch more than once...so it was definitely worth a buy.

I own it, amazing stuff. I also just bought the BBC Galapagus Island doc. Just as amazing.

I also own the Glapagos disc, and agree with Ron, also amazing. If you like Planet Earth, Glapagos is at least worth a rent, but I think they're cheap enough just to own. I have Planet Earth on HD DVD and Glapagos on Blu Ray.

Good info I'll check the other one out as well. What type of scenery, documentary is it?

Wife has been negative about getting a large HD TV. Last week, she went to Fry's to purchase a BR and they had Planet Earth Playing on a $7,000, 65" LCD and it blew her away. Now, she wants a gargantuan sized TV. Thank you Fry's!

Ordered through Amazon. ETA: Monday. Can't wait!

Everything, anything. Animals, caves, trees, ocean, deserts, it goes on and on.

+1. Renting it made me realize that I'd rather have it around to watch at my convenience.

Got it in. Love it. Reminds me of watching nature video reel in 7th grade science class except the picture quality is much better. Yes, the british guy's voice is hypnotically drowsy. There are times the picture looks SD instead of HD and one scene looked like the camera was getting hit with 50mph winds and couldn't remain stable and some parts look a tad out of focus. But still, what a phenomenal video set. I haven't finished it yet.
