I am getting to be really happy with my 3 systems, but have always wanted to try a pair of Monitor 12s. I don't think I have seen a pair for sale for 6 months or more. Anyone else seeing these around?
I saw a pair for sale locally. I almost picked them up, but the person selling them seemed kinda shady, so I passed. Just curious, why would you want them, I hear they're pretty boomy sounding.

Boomy is an interesting description. I bought my 12s specifically for use in my HT and at that they perform wonderfully. I have only tested them once in a 2 channel setup. I hooked them up to my Onix SP-3 which is 38wpc. Guess what they sounded boomy. I did not however change their postion so they were in corners. I think they would have sounded much better pulled out.

Ive had my 12s from new and there is no way they are boomy!
Had them in 3 different houses over the years and i can tell you that room acc and placement makes a big diff.
I have hard wood floors now and if anything they sound a bit thin and i like them with the sub on when in 2 ch. Thats with a new Cambridge 640R A/V at 120wpc BTW.

In my new house the speakers are no longer in corners. When I have some time I will hook them up to the Onix again and give them another try. The SP-3 is a tube amp btw and I've never tried them with SS.

Well, I have owned just about every model of Polk Monitors (the 80s line) except the 12. I love 10s, and have always wanted to see if the 12s would fill out more and give a little more bottom end. I have a large HT room where they would be far from corners and a couple feet from back walls.

I'm using Monitor 10s as rear speakers with the 12's. Personally I love my HT setup. My reciever is a Denon 2308ci.
