Hi,
For a HT application, is there any difference between the SVS 25-31 PC Plus and a PB12+ box subwoofer? I was under the impression that they should sound the same but I may be wrong.
P.S. My sealed 15" Dayton Titanic DIY sub is great for music, but I'm thinking something like the above SVS's would be better suited for HT...

The PB-12 would be about the same as the 20-39 PC Plus. It is tuned 5hz lower (and has a larger cabinet) than the 25-31.
Other than looks, weight and cost they should be about the same.

You know port position has to do alot with how well it will sound. High ceilings with a port up, might not sound as well as a port 4-6" from a wall. But it really depends on the room.

Go for the plus2 for more output in the HT.

Thanks guys.
I was thinking about the 25-31PC Plus because it is cheaper than the PB12+.

I'm surprised you don't build another sub for home theater like your Titanic. You would most likely be able to build a superior ported sub for less money than you are willing to spend on the svs. Don't get me wrong, I like my svs but it doesn't compare to my diy subs. Maybe building one isn't a possibility though, just throwing it out there! :)

I was going to build another sub, but then I read all of the SVS reviews about how they are so good for HT, and now I'm not sure what to do.

Is money an issue? If it is, you can build a sub just as well as SVS for less than half the cost.
Better bang for the buck.

You can also order them unfinished and finish it yourself.

Sure, I already did.
But how the heck do you build a cylinder sub?

If cost is an issue, buy a used one.

Looks like fun...but I'm currently in college (dorm) and away from home, so I doubt I'd be able to build that here.
But having a SVS in a dorm room would be nice ;)
