The last Journey song I liked was "Of a Lifetime" which was on one of the first albums. Never have seen that album on CD.

Someone probably moved it here where embedding codes aren't enabled, thus screwing up all the posts.

Sounds like a similar story to the movie rockstar....
I think he is a really good singer, but his speakers and or amp are distorting terribly. Bet he will sound great with a good sound engineer behind him...

Or it could be the camcorder that filmed the performance distorting:)

That has got to be dubbed over. That was amazing.

IT was the recording equipment not the speakers or mic.

He does sound good but he ain't no Steve Perry. But they definitely found someone that can decently hit the notes...again. I'm sure Schon and the boys will school him on how "they" want things to sound like.
I kind of liked their last singer Steve Augeri (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Augeri). Too bad he had some throat issues, too, but it looks like he may come out with some unreleased material from an old band called Tall Stories back in the "Hair Band" part of the 1990's. Always liked his voice.
Man, why can't the original members just get back together for a couple of years to tour like Van Halen. Wasn't Steve Perry having some sort of health issues or throat problems? That sux.

IMO, Perry will never be topped with that band. His voice is so unique, to me....that's what defined the band.

You know, I am not much of a Journey fan or anything, but this guy has some great pipes. Now I just want to hear some original material. These recordings are live and he doesn't sound like he's singing live in all of the videos I have watched (crapload on YouTube). Some part of me thinks that he probably can't do original music, which sucks, because there's a ton of talent here.

I just heard about this and I'm impressed.......here is a video of this guy with the band last month........Also do a search for Journey 2008 and you can see a lot of vids there (unfortunately many are done with crap cell phones).....

Hmmm....
They keep trying to "clone" another Steve Perry for the band. This new guy is impressive, but why not bring back Steve?

he was always a head case, met him once on a personal level back in the 80's, he was very polite and shy, nothing like you might suspect a front man would be, nice guy. just don't think he ever really was able to bond with the band.

For whatever reason...
I think RT's opinion deserves a second notice.
A "front guy" always plays the ace. Always....
Set of pipe's? Indeed. "Part of the Band"? I don't know...

Oh wow. I had no idea what was going on with Journey with a new front man and what not. But I ran across a video on youtube of this long haired dude singing with Journey on-stage. Figured it was some kind of a joint deal, he was a guest singer, or something. But it was weird, 'cause he sounded EXACTLY like the original to me.
Of course, I'm not a diehard Journey fan, so I'm not that critical of him. However, I love their songs, and thought he did a great job with them.
