Just picked this up today and am very impressed. Disc 2, song 8 blows my frickin mind. That acoustic guitar is the closest i've heard to real coming through my gear.

What is the name of the song?

I always liked Fleetwood Mac. Some great music there. "Sara" was always one of my favorite F.M. tunes and of course "Rumors" being their best album, IMO.

The name of the song is "Go Insane" (live, 1997)

I was going to buy the Rumors album but it was missing some of the songs that I really like including "silver springs" and "seven wonders" as well as others that are on the "Very Best Of" album.

Recordings are awesome...you'd never tell some of these songs were made 20- 30 yrs ago. I believe these songs were remastered for this compilation so that might explain why.

Rumors IMO is their best album as well, but the recording limitations of that day can still be heard [or not heard]. Is this "Best of" in another league? You have already perked my ears up on this one.

The Dance live concert DVD is very good (but recorded at a pretty low volume). Well worth checking out if you are a fleetwood mac fan at all....

Yeah, "The Very Best of" is a great album.

& Yes, everything on it was remastered.

That's what i figured. The crispness and clarity of everygthing going on in the music is unbelievable. If you buy it...you gotta check out song 8 on disk 2. Makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck!

well i may have jumped the gun saying that is an acoustic guitar. Upon further listening it seems a little different, a stringed intrument of some sort but maybe not a guitar. Maybe someone could chime in here. Nevertheless...whatever it is...wow..you can hear the strings vibrate in places... kindof like when you strum a guitar a little too hard. The detail puts me in a trance. :)

That's an acoustic...maybe acoustic electric. He uses a lot of vibrato and harmonics that make it sound kind of 'lute' like in places.

I believe that it's a custom guitar made by Rick Turner,,it looks like a cross between and electric and an acoustic. If you can find a copy of the "Mirage Tour"82,,give it a listen,,recorded live in Los Angeles,,I have it on LD,and Buckinham really gets into it on "I'm so Afraid" IIRC.

Just out of curiosity... do you all know anything of the real Fleetwood Mac, before Buckingham and Nicks came along? They had a long and somewhat bizarre history before the album Fleetwood Mac in 1975.

yep,, there are two books that I'm aware of,,one written by Mick,, pretty good reading and gives you a clear cut history and personalities of the members and the bands metamorphsis, if you will,,worth a read.:)

Thanx for the info...i knew it had to be some kindof tricked out guitar he was playing. It sure grabs your attention!

There have probably been more incarnations of Fleetwood Mac than any other band in history. From the roots of John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, and Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer, then the chicks start ... Christine McVie, then Bob Welch, then Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, then no Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks..and on and on.
