In TX_polkheads thread about his new 7s he talks about using diluted Windex to clean them with.
What do the rest you use?
If Windex how diluted?
Also is there any preferred method of cleaning the cones, they are treated with some sorta sticky type material- I do a light vacuum and wipe with towel
Favorite wood cleaner\polish for the outside?
I tend to use just water on the speakers-a truck load of q-tips and properly applied elbow grease
How about cleaning the outside of stereo equipment?
I use rubbing alcohol on the equipment and again a bunch of Q-tips
Be interesting to hear what others use

I don't do anything real special in product selection. Windex seems to work fine for the drivers although I try and stay away from the bottles labeled "with lots of ammonia". The multi-surface Windex works fine.
On wood I have always used a quality furniture polish like Old English or Murphy's. I'm sure there a 100's of good brand favorites in the Club.
On vinyl for tough 1st time cleaning I usually use warm water and Dawn dish washing liquid - especially if there are water rings and such. Also on vinyl and occasionally on wood I use End-Dust or similar. It seems to repel dust build-up without really being a wax.
Nothing different on equipment (metal surfaces like amps), I use a damp cotton cloth with sometimes a little Windex or Dawn if needed. I would think rubbing alcohol would work well also. Dries fast & doesn't leave anything behind.
On Bose equipment I usually use a garden hose or high pressure washer.

A good acid bath gets them nice and shiney...

That doesn't hurt them,?
one would think you could save some taxpayers' money and use your own hose

I use a well-wrung chamois on all my gear---never any cleaners.

I don't THINK I have a chamois. I'm not good at French. Is chamois what girls call theirs?
That is cham-WAH right?

Sham-ee is the english pronounciation.
French is Sha-mwa . Basically a cloth that holds water. If you're ever bored, find a french only person and get them to repeat 'happiness'.
I use a damp cloth(ringed out very well). My speakers(my own build) are solid wood finished with wax; I can just dust the boxes with my hand.
