Frampton Comes Alive - a great live album that now SOUNDS good. I've listened to it a couple times over the past couple of days. Absolutely SLAYS the vinyl version.
DiMeola/DeLucia/McLaughlin - Friday Night in San Francisco - the performance is so spectacular that the recording isn't really relevant. The vinyl is great the SACD is great. Push in terms of sound quality but, to be honest, I get so caught up in the music that I could care less.
Police - Synchronicity. JHC, has it really been 25 years since this came out? 1983? Oy, talk about feeling older. You know, I was never a HUGE Police fan. Liked them but not a fanatic. THIS sounds stellar. Reminds me of the Dire Straits/BIA album in terms of production and so forth. This is a must have.
Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell. SOOO disappointing. Not that the SACD is 'bad' but it just is so underwhelming compared to what it COULD sound like. I saw Meat live back in the early 90's and he was FABULOUS. As such, like Springsteen, listening to his recorded material just leaves you feeling unsatisfied.

well, I give the sacd of the Meat a little better, but yes, I actually perfer a recording I have on my TIVO, from an HDNET concert, of course the hotties help. Still, somehow the Meats passions get a bit lost on the SACD.
I will order the Frampton, that has been on my list.
Bro, we got a bunch of catching up to do with our tunes and gear, dont worry if TLW is gone, her and I are current, like your light bill. but I get no credit for that.

Yeah, it's not that it's 'bad' but done right, it could be THE recording to own.

I just got through listening to the Frampton LP a couple of weeks ago. NOW I have to go buy the SACD. Thanks Troy :p
Synchronicity...abosoultely correct. I have it on vinyl and SACD...and either one is stellar.
Bat out of Hell is not about SQ...it's about the performance. I'm not sure better SQ would add anything IMO.

Troy, I purchased this CD about 4 months ago and heiney9 suggested that this be an album to try out in another thread. When I realized I actually had it, I plopped it in and was blown away by the talent on the stage that night.
I especially like the passage where they do the Pink Panther thing. Too cool. I've got the SACD and I have not heard the vinyl or redbook yet but the recording is stellar IMO. I've listened to it five or six times since I heard it for the first time on Jan. 28th.

When you say "push in terms of sound quality", what do you mean?

Just wanted to point out that the sequel to "Friday Night in San Francisco", "Passion, Grace & Fire (http://www.sa-cd.net/showtitle/946)", is also available as a SACD in Japan.

I also have the Al Di SACD and love it. I know what you mean getting caught up and all. The bonus here is the awesome sound quality of SACD.
What player do you have??

Never was a big Frampton fan but heard this many times during high school cruising on weekends, etc. listened to the Sacd at Troy's the other evening and was thoroughly impressed with the sound from this live performance.
You definitely get the feeling of the size of the venue during guitar passages that echo off of the arena's ceiling.

Weather Report's Mysterious Traveller is a great SACD, Jungle Book is worth the price alone.
