Looking for an amp for my 1Cs - would this be a good fit - found one pretty cheap in great shape...

Better double check the DC offset on that amp, and pull the cover, and make sure the input caps are not leaking. Other than that it is an awesome amp. If you don't want it I'll take it:) In any condition.

How do I check the DC offset and I will pull the cover and look for any leakage... Heck I'll take a picture and post it!!

Disconnect the amp from all inputs and outputs. Connect a DC voltmeter on the Mv range to one channel, like you would a set of speakers. Turn on the amp and let it warm up for 10-20 minutes. See what the meter is reading. Then connect the meter to the other channel and see what that says. Under 15mv should be fine, the higher the reading the more the amp needs differential repair or adjusting. Don't worry about negative readings, the polarity isn't important.

A 585? Wow, be prepared to fully understand the definition of dynamics. How much do they offer up, like 400 wpc into 4 ohm?
I'm envious ;)

They're big suckers. Like two 565's in one cabinet.

Well I plugged the amp in let her warm up and took some readings... each channel gave me readings from .001 to .005 but the mostly stayed between
.003 and .004 on the right channel and .002 and .003 on the left.
Also pulled the top off and looked at the caps and I did not notice anything leaking... would it be very obvious like some sort of discoloration or maybe sticky film of some sort?? They boards actually look pretty clean.
I'm kinda a rookie so any advice would be appreciated - i didnt take any pics yet!!!
Also I'm a little emabarassed that I havent even tried to listen to it yet - got all excited about taking it apart:)

If those measurements were taken DC then you are good. The caps are on the input board, and they should say Elna on them. Where about are you located?

Checking your gear always should come first. You don't want to play it for 5 minutes and realize you've just blown a couple of drivers, or your amp toasted your crossover. Check once, listen forever!

I am in Ft Worth Texas!! I'm really hoping this amp turns out to be solid - then I will be able to flip flop between my Magnepan IIIa's and 1C's - I got monos running my maggies now!!

A thump is normal when you turn on an Adcom

A thump is normal for any amp that doesn't use a delayed protection relay. Most older Adcoms are that way, I assume the 585 is.
