Does anyone know if the movies that were HD-DVD exclusive will now be made for Blu-Ray players? Specifically, I am wondering if Transformers and the Matrix trilogy will be available on blu-ray anytime in the future. I almost kept my A2 just to keep the HD Transformers and Matrix movies.

I have absolutely nothing to back this up, but I'm thinking we will see former HD exclusives released on blu-ray starting some time this year.

Warner did announce that The Matrix Trilogy will be coming to Blu-Ray this year. I forget when, but it is. No word on Transformers yet. Reason is that it is a Paramount owned movie. Paramount is exclusive to HD DVD (for now anyway).

I agree with phuz; I haven't seen any of the studios that have switched come out and say this, probably because they're hoping to sell off what they have made already, but I'd give it another 9 months to a year and you'll see all that stuff start to come out on Blu-Ray.

As always, these releases are studio dependent. Warner has already announced that Batman Begins and the Matrix will be available sometime in the next year. Transformers is a Paramount/Dreamworks title and will depend on when the widely predicted but yet to be confirmed switch from HD-DVD exclusivity will take place.

Here are the listings for Warner releases highlighted through early 2009. This is only a partial pre-announcement list.
