R50's on sale at Outpost.com

Okay so I am looking for a 2 channel setup for my downstairs TV. I have no way to do a complete 5.1 setup due to the asthetics of the room.

So outpost/fry's has the R50's for sale at the cost of 168.58 out the door. To me this sounds like too good of a deal. Anyone have any dealings with the R50's, and can give me any insight on how they sound?

I like them I know there the very low end of the polk line but the $100 I paid for them at fry,s they are well worth it. I have a pair of RT600,s and the R50,s sounds just as good if not a little better. I am powering mine with an adcom gfa-535.

I recently ordered 4 r50's from Frys. I'm a newbie, but I do like them and it is hard to beat the price. They were cheaper than bookshelfs, so I ordered a second pair for surrounds.

Btw, the shipping for two at once turns out to be more expensive than ordering them separately. Others here have had the same experience. I made the mistake on the first pair. But not the second pair.

That sounds about right for a Fry/outpost deal. Honestly, that's how I got started in hi-fi, buying a pair of R30's for $120 shipped to my door. I'd say go for it, it's worth the price IMO.

My experience is kind of the same as Referer. Got a pair of R50's from Fry's for $200 a few years back and I've been spending money ever since. I've always had them hooked up to an older mid-level Onkyo and they sounded good. I recently made a few upgrades and briefly had them powered with an Adcom 545 and I was very surprised at how much better they sounded. Well work the $200 I paid.

I am definitely not new to HT, but I am really looking forward to hearing my new setup.

I think R50's are great considering the price Fry's sells them for.

I bought a pair a month ago. They are entry level, but for the price they are great. Mine are starting to mellow out and they sound real nice. I have a room with vaulted ceilings and they really fill it with sound. Looking to put some Rti bookshelves for a HT setup if I can get my hands on some.

I think it depends where you are and what you order. I ordered 2 r300's and two sets of r150's, and on one order it was less to order the pair together, and on the other it came out less to order each separately. Go Figure.

Well they came this afternoon, this was a good thing and a bad thing. First off I work nights and I was sleeping when the DHL man came. But I heard the door bell ring, I shot right out of bed and ran downstairs like a kid on Christmas morning.

So basically I said eff it, and hooked the sh!t up. The setup took a lot longer than I thought because my receiver would not fit into my cabinet. So I had to take the back part of the cabinet off and slide the receiver in through the back. I thought I could put it in at an angle through the front but that turned out not to be the case.

So after that was all done I got it working and played a few tunes before I left, and made sure the 360, and TV came through good. First impressions are quite positive, and it really does not take to much power from the Onkyo to get these things singing. I really liked the veneer on the cherries I got. They are heavy and very well constructed, and honestly I have to say they look DAMN nice. Now if I can figure out a way to get speaker wires to the rear of the room, this would end up being a great second HT system.

avelanchefan, glad you like them. Yes, they look better than pictures I have found on the net. After seeing how good these are I have also been bitten by the audiogear bug and am looking at getting more stuff. Also, hate to say this, but when the wife is watching TV, a lot of times I just go to my "sanctuary" and have to listen to them. I can't wait to complete my setup. Is that normal?
