how far is the BWI airport from Polk HQ? Drive time please.
A friend suggested i may want to fly into Philly and drive to Baltimore instead. Ideas on this?
is Polk HQ located in West Baltimore?
I don't remember from 3 yrs ago.

Should only be about 18 miles and @ 35 minutes from BWI to Polk HQ.
You do not want to fly into Philly as it's over 2 hours away.
This is the easiest route to drive.

Maybe if YOU are driving! I've made Baltimore in about an hour and 15 minutes. I live just outside of Philly and Philly is closer to Baltimore than I am.

I don't doubt you John, but 2 hours or more is realistic for normal drive times.

One hour and fifty minutes, round it up to two as I guarantee you'll hit traffic.

Is it October yet???
Are we going to have a flea market?
I have a pair of leather chaps from my riding days; should I bring them?
Will we have designated drivers?
Will we play games?
Can we impersonate other members when we get there?
Will we be allowed to burn some piece of gear?
Are we there yet????

Well, I made George's list so you'd better put me on this list as well. I like lists.
Is there a particular "designated" hotel that the bulk of the Polkies are going to stay at? Preferably near a bar [hint]

I'm sure all the hotels near BWI have a bar. Off hand, I don't know of any around the Pikesville Hilton.

is the Pikesville Hilton the place where some of us stayed in 05'?
Jstas
04-15-2008, 12:01 PM
If you go to Travelocity, the write up on the Pikesville Hilton will tell you if it has a bar and/or restaurant and even if room service is available. It will also tell you what local places are near by. I do recall seeing an Applebee's nearby...I could be mistaken...but if there is one, there is a bar that is fairly inexpensive and open until 2am at most locations. Some are stifled by local laws. Same deal if there is a Pizzeria UNO near by.

OMG! You've had that fantasy too? In mine, doro is wearing the ass-less chaps with some twigs and leaves stuck in the zippers. Jesse was yelling out the side of his mouth while trying not to lose his mahageny pipe and dump it all over his smoking jacket. He probably couldn't do much more about it because he had wine in one hand and cheese in the other. He also had curlers in his hair but they weren't curlers, they were 2.2 uf/250v mylar caps and 1.0 uf/250v mylar caps.
It was weird. But I guess that's what I get for getting Baja style Chalupas from Taco Bell for dinner and washing them down with Miller Lite.

I received a cool batch of brand new CD's to giveaway as Karma @ Polkfest 2008 (http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63145) from a somewhat new, and cool member. I'm not sure if he wants me to reveal him but I would encourage that....since no one else has even thought of it so far.
I believe it was originated from this karma (http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66225&highlight=polkfest+karma) and it's nice to see a member "pay" something back or forward....for an event that's essentially all about membership in the first place.
Push aside the vitriol and hatred and do something bigger than yourself. GET YOUR ASS TO POLKFEST! This isn't about the individual(s)....it's about Polk Audio and the CP community.
If the community isn't something you like, well, you probably don't participate enough. This is hands down, one of the best forums I am a part of....and I'm on a bunch. It's a great mix of everything and aside from a Steam Vent or Political Forum, whch I personally would love to have.....not too freaking shabby.
If you are pensive about checking the event out....and it's an EVENT!....get a grip and come on down. This is an awesome opportunity to attend something that many folks never have. It's not a calender event, just membership driven. You don't have to come down for the whole weekend....at LEAST come down for Friday.
PLEASE! post publically, as to how many other manufacturers, have opened their respective doors to their user forums. Whether it be this level or smaller. Why would you not, want to just check out what a company does....in the field of which you spend money. This isn't a sales pitch with time shares involved....it's a walkthrough, wtf, that's not worth some time?
This is Polkfest man...peace, love and threesomes.....or whatever.
Hi,
I've been working on the agenda and if things pan out, it will be memorable. I expect to lock it down and publish it here soon.
I have been reluctant to say this out loud but my house in west Baltimore will be the headquarters for the Saturday events.

The last Polkfest in 'aught five was very cool!
They had free food, a live band and all kinds of cool stuff. You got a walk through and got to see so much stuff that they require you to sign a non-disclosure agreement! Means you can't talk about some of the stuff you saw. If that isn't enticing enough, I dunno what is!
We got to see testing equipment and the testing rooms, the measurement equipment and the room it is used in, demo rooms, offices of the cool guys, even Justin's desk! If you are on the car audio side, we got to see the car audio workshop and the cars they were working on. We even got to see what kind of tools they use for doing the work. Right next to that is an area where they have drivers galore that they use for testing and rebuilding and such. It's like seeing the museum of Polk Audio. You don't really want to get separated from your tour group but if you lingered and asked questions, people were happy to talk and then help you find your tour group again. Oh and they have an SRT theater setup in the warehouse!
Oh and Matt, Al, Polk Paul and even Stu made it a point to go around and meet everyone. This isn't just a chance to have almost unfettered access to a corporate headquarters and R&D office, it's a chance to meet people who have made waves in the industry. they are all humble about it but ask anybody, even if they think Polk is cheap stuff, they all say that Polk Audio is innovative. We got to meet everyone including the Polk Customer Service giants like Ken Swauger and the venerable Kim from the car audio side.
These are very smart people and very kind people who are just floored by your rabid support for their company and what they do. That's why they support you so much. They want you to come and say hi and see what they do. They wouldn't open the doors if they didn't. Judging by the number of Polk employees that started posting here on the forums after the last event, they enjoyed it immensely too. So get off your dead butt and get out here for this event. You won't regret it.

My typical vomit time at Polkfest occurs from 3 to 4 am (right after I smear mustard on my chest). That window is subject to change however. Oh, and I have to have Abernathy with me for encouragement too (just fyi).

In case you good folks haven't noticed, another hotel has been added to the list. There is a Ramada Inn right across the street from the Pikesville Hilton. The Ramada is a two story building with room access from the outside as opposed to the Hilton, at which room access is from the inside and in theory, may be more secure. A quick call to either will get you pricing.

Well Doro is probably right outside your office, nekkid and hiding in the bushes, muttering to himself. Is that what you mean by entertainment, sans clothing? The entertaining part would be the look on Matt Polk's face when he walks out the office and gets jumped by a nekkid Doro speckled with leaves, twigs and mulch and Hedy has to shoo him away with a stun stick much like Gary Olen's "Bowel Mover 3000".

Exactly Al!
I booked my tickets back in June just to make sure I got a seat.
People are booking 2-3 months early because the planes are filling up very fast & it cuts down on the expense of the seats.
NOW!

Booked mine a couple of months ago and the next best flight now is $300+. Never understood why anyone would not book the flight seeing the fuel charges we are currently facing.

I think the room you have much more time to wait on that.. Oct is out of the tourist season.. and hotels will be looking to fill rooms.. hence a better price. :)

Mike, you're ok and your right I shouldn't have been so harsh.
So to make it up for twisting my arm for a ticket, then wishing for a cheaper rate down to road. I feel I'll be ok with your CC info so I may charge any audio equipment needed to get me back to myself. Nice Guy. ;)
You can PM the needed info any time. 24/7/365

Just having fun with you Steve. As for the CC, you know me. My wife controls everything and has me on a very strict audio budget. Hell, I will be lucky enough to get permission to buy an old beat up 45 let alone the K-Tel record player to play it.
